I've only been looking around the Best Buy website so far, but I do find one that I think would work for me. I'll do some more looking, though, and hope I come across some student discount ones.

Make sure you sign up for their rewards program if you haven't already.

I'm warning you now that this is more laptop talk. :p

So many laptops to look at! I just realized on Best Buy, most of their deals end today so there's really no point in looking there now. Best Buy seems to have the best deals, though.

I also found out I can get up to 30% off from Dell via my parents' AAA membership, but the only laptop with the price I'm willing to pay gets mixed reviews.

So overwhelming!

There will be more sales.

If it helps PUSH, I have an HP, my brother has a Dell.

My HP has next to no problems (stupid memory card reader) while his freezes more frequently, is bulky, slow, and has no num keys. HP also has more support online.

I've thought about those, but my big turn off would be the lack of CD drive. That and the screen size.

My laptop is an Acer netbook. There is a huge difference between the 10.5" and 11" screens, in terms of usability and keyboard.

As far as a CD drive, you can pick up and external CD/DVD Burner for around 40 bucks (or even less online)...both units together are STILL lighter and smaller (in my bag) than a full sized laptop.

That being said, I've been pretty pleased with Acer, and have used them as a vendor for the past 4 years (Asus, however, I have NOT been pleased with, nor Lenovo Laptops (I'm thrilled with their MicroATX desktops.) Dell I'm meh...

I'd go check Best Buy or Fry's for return item deals...those tend to be really good prices!

The one I have looks something like this (it's not this model, but looks pretty much the same)...

HP makes a good product. My home systems have been HP centered for the past decade, and I've been pleased. I'm on my third desktop, and number 1 has been "retired" (donated, actually) and number 2 (my 6 year old desktop) is sitting in the closet in my room acting as a data / file / backup server with a drobo attached with 16T (14 usable) of storage.

Weeeeeeeeee....
