When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
It was 10 degrees today (50, to most of you), sunny and glorious. A lot of melting occurred. Roofs came out of hiding for the first time in months. Sadly, the grass is still under a foot or more of snow, and snowbanks at the edge of the roads are still 3-5' high. More at the corners.

Tomorrow, we will have a March snowstorm. We are in the 15-20 cm (6-8 inches) band. Less than an hour south of us in Buffalo, they are expecting a full fledged Blizzard! Many schools, businesses and gov't offices there have already announced closures for tomorrow. Geesh!

Do you have the pen thingy from the Palm Pilot days? That is my secret key to success.

It is especially helpful when playing this:

Wow! Palm Pilots. Talk about a yesteryear flashback.

When I tossed our Desk Top Desk, along with the Desk Top several years ago I found my Palm Pilot that wasn't really missing. It was my first real distraction during boring reports at meetings and quickly replaced by I believe a Blackberry which stayed in my life substantially longer than my Palm. A cool gadget that became obsolete long before it should have bought the farm. That Palm was one expensive toy.

Brrr...we are getting the storm too, should start anytime now with the same 6-9 inches predictions. We've already had rain and hail south. Our snow piles have shrunk in the last few days, the South side of my driveway still has ice, doesn't get sun over the snowbanks.

Somewhere along the line this winter a top came off of a 40 galvanized garbage can out in my side garden area during the winter and I knew for sometime now that it was completely filled with ice. Today it was swishing in a little bit of water, so with major effort I dumped the can on its side and finally convinced the ice block to come out.

Biggest Ice Cube Ever!!!!

Boy does that garden look depressing. It has so many perennials in the summer. Blooming Flowers all season. It has low dim lights at night and lattice with tiny white lights at the entrance with pretty white flag stone. Now I can see it will need to be bleached in the spring.

I wonder how many of the perennials will survive after the incredibly harsh cold weather we've had. Hopefully the blanket of snow we have had for all these months will have insulated them from the prolonged sub zero temps. Spring flowers should start with some mighty moist soil. Oy.

My oldest son just turned 19 at midnight, so I offered him his first legal beer.
He declined.

That's my boy.

I know he has had a few sips before, but he despises anything carbonated, so I was not surprised he declined.

And yes, the legal drinking age in Canada is 19. 18, in La Belle Province (Quebec).

When our Disney Christmas friends were finally dug out of the snow in the front yard a few weeks ago the grass was a deep green, such a surprise.

Few weeks later and it is brown with a mix of army green. Bluck. Tomorrow it will be covered in white snow once again, this time minus the Disney Friends.

Awe. Happy Birthday to him and you!

When I was a kid the drinking age in Illinois was 19, 18 in Wisconsin. When my son went to college for a few years in Wisconsin I could take him to dinner and he could order a beer just so his Dad or I were there, otherwise 21.

At my DDs University you have to be 19 to enter a bar and wait two years to order a beer. She came home for her 21st Birthday, her brother and his girlfriend took all of her 21 yr old friends to downtown Chicago to Second City comedy club. Train.

Good Big Brother.

I should visit Canada in about 7 weeks.
