I'm finally doing it! I'm transferring files from my old laptop to the new one! So I'll finally be able to put my normal avatar on whenever I want! So this is what freedom feels like. *sigh*

Speaking of excitement... IT'S SOOOOOOOO WARM HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm pumped!! I'm literally excited to go to class later today so I can walk a bit outside! Because, you know, it's forbidden to do that unless you have a reason to.

Help please. How do you get Jalapeno pepper off your fingertips. I don't normally cook with these, such an amateur I am. Have learned if I touch my eye area, it is nasty stuff.

You use milk, put milk in a small cub, insert your fingers for a few minutes then wash with dish soap.

Honestly though...what did you do to the jalepenos to get a ton of capsaicin on your fingers?
Probably touched the innards of the jalapeños (where the seeds are)

but that was yesterday!

It's interesting you say that.

When my grandfather retired from teaching college (the third time) and moved to Augusta, he was looking for a part time job.

He wanted to teach high school, but none of the local districts would hire him.

Due to his triple doctorates, masters and undergrad degrees, they'd have to pay him 60k to be a janitor, if he applied for that job, in the mid-90s, according to him.

I used to think he was joking.

Pay for educators should not be based on their level of education. Frankly, pay in general should not.

Results are what matters, results are what should be measured. Period.

Bill Gates is not qualified to teach in a US High School. However, someone who got an online degree from Pheonix University can.

That...is trope, but it does afford some humorous insight into how screwed up our educational system is.

My personal belief...no one who has a degree in "education" should be allowed to teach beyond the 6th grade year. From that point forward, if you don't have a specialized degree, or equivalent professional experience, you should not be teaching any subject.

Period.

Agree with you, also I do not think you really need a education degree to teach something.
There are really good men with incredible experience and success that do not have degrees.
so I agree with you on the "results are what matters".

Daylight Saving Time was almost certainly invented by Meg. I can't get to sleep, and I have to be up early tomorrow. Ugh. :hungover:
Thanks god the daylight saving time is not yet applied to my country. I expect a big hit in the next weeks lol.

I may get flamed for this, but I don't understand why teachers can't keep their own classrooms clean.
Kids Happen?
Honestly no surprise if a lot of teachers just say "f this.. my job is to teach not to clean.. leave it to the janitor" when the army of kids is thrashing everywhere.. and if you call them on their trash.. they will complain to their daddies who will then complain to the director about how mean the teacher was to their precious "princesses".

Titles are worthless without proof of performance.

We both agree that a certain amount of civility is required, but submission is not.

A title is just that, a title. It does not denote submission of authority. However, many think it does.

I honestly think.. that the ones who boast more of their titles, are the most worthless ones..
because they use the title as defense mechanism and not proof of performance, skill and knowledge.

Well this thread got a little out of hand....You guys should really stay on topic. :D
There is a topic? I tough the topic was pushs's art.

I'm loving these avatars - no one can tell I am posting 17 times in a row. o_O
or that push is posting 3000 times per day ;)

You need to change yours. It is a blemish on this perfect page of U.S.S. BMs.

Edit: very good. Now we need @Lucky, @StarWarsGirl95, and @MOXOMUMD.

I concur, ART FOR EVERYONE!

Can we end the education talk on this thread, please? It's gotten on several people's nerves, and it's best if we just end it all together. Thanks for respecting this.

sorry, was trying to read all the pages I did Miss, I do not use much time to browse so I do it in a single stroke.

So one thing I noticed in Vegas - Canadians are some lucky people. Any time people sat at a table with us and started doing well it turned out they were Canadian. And they brought luck to the entire table! Hubby and I were trying to figure out how to keep one as a souvenir. I think next time we decide to gamble we may need to take @JenniferS with us!!!

I think we need to appoint her as "Official Gambling Partner of the Sageteers".

My imagination at work again.. I imagine you returning to your home and telling your wife.

"Honey, I am back from Las Vegas, and I brought a canadian fellow as souvenir! he brings luck! so ditch those rabbit feet!"

bonus points when I "heard" the "HONEEEY" in the frozone's voice (aka Samuel L. Jackson)

Oh - I forgot to mention - the first group of people were French Canadian - from just outside Montreal. I dared hubby to ask them if they were Mapleleafs fans but he refused. He refused to anger our new found friends.

I can't figure out how to make it work on this tablet I'm borrowing and it's hurting my brain. (Honestly I'm happy just to walk hobble across the room while remaining upright and keeping my bodily fluids where they are supposed to go today.) Since I don't "conform" (egads I detest that party line, I am a Rebel--see avatar) I guess I'll stop posting for now so I don't mar the Sageteer perfectionism.

I do want to say that this walker makes me feel like I should be sitting on a sunny park bench feeding the squirrels. :) :(
