I live 9.9 Miles from WDW. I live in Kissimmee Florida. I call it little Puerto Rico, cause all of my friends are of different race, and I like it that way. I chill with a group of noisy Dominicans, Puerto Ricans, African Americans, and Weirdo's. Kissimmee Florida, Home of the Largest Wal Mart in the country.

so, if you're not Puerto Rican, African American, or Dominican, does that make you one of the weirdos? :animwink:

I've been to Danbury Fair Mall too... the kids used to love the merry-go-round when they were little! :) I HATE CT though!! :(

Shes...umm...I dont remember. I used to know her old address by heart. This one I just cant ever remember :( I know its a fairly new development, though. Lovely colonial built to spec. Its out past some fields and woods (last time I was up there, they were fields and woods. For all I know, there could be houses there now!) I do know we drove down a very narrow little country road to get there.

Any ideas where this is?

sounds like it could be off of MT Vernon Road... but Southington has been throwing up houses in places you wouldn't even imagine they could... I had read in the newspaper that Southington had more building permits than any other town in the state of CT... people just love us Southington"ites" and keep coming & coming... pretty soon there won't be room in the schools for the kids... ugh! Does she have kids? My two oldest have graduated from HS already & are now going to college (ugh... I feel old...) but my youngest is just going in to 9th grade... a freshman at the HS

Shes got 3 little ones. They are like, 8, 6 and 3, but dont hold me to that  I know the school isnt that close to where they are, because her mom (my aunt who lives over in Watertown) was telling me that.

I think people keep moving up your way, because down my way, the homes are just untouchable, especially for young couples just starting out. Used to be you moved up to the Somers area. Now, the houses up there are getting higher and higher, so they are going further and further up :(

Sounds like my town, built a new $42 million HS (took 2 years) when it opened it was already at capacity. This year they finished the 4th floor (built to hold overflow in 5 years) and it too will be full in September.

OK, back on topic, I live in Guilderland, NY, a suburb of Albany, NY. (Yes, Albany has suburbs....) I was born in Brooklyn and was raised on Long Island (Dix Hills). I've actually been to the Orange County Fair once (while my wife and I were still dating, and I went to her house for a couple of days to meet her folks) about 19 years ago. Her folks are actually in Sullivan County, about 7 miles from Monticello.

Been thru Guilderland on our way to Lake Placid. I'm originally from Queens Village...right on the Elmont border. On a good day you could hear the races at Belmont. Monticello is about 45 minutes north of Monroe.( my home of 21 years).

I even went to the same college as him...WPI. Sorry to ramble but there isn't very many good things about this aweful city. But I will soon be moving back to Connecticut.

No offense, nikechic, but I get a little freaked out every time I see your avatar. Not that you're unattractive or anything(quite the opposite), but you look a lot (and I mean a lot) like a friend of mine who also lives in MA, and I believe your first name is only one letter off from hers (your name is Laurel, correct?). I had to read several posts of yours just to assure myself that you weren't her.

Like I said, no offense...I just hear the Twilight Zone theme anytime I read a post of yours. :lookaroun :D

Oh, yeah, I currently reside in south GA, in a mid-sized tourist town almost exactly halfway between Savannah, GA, and Jacksonville, FL, called Brunswick (home of Brunswick stew, gateway to the Golden Isles of south GA, and soon to be just south of an animal park sponsored by Jim Fowler).

Well, if you're near Monticello, you may have heard of their village, Kauneonga Lake. It's within the town of Bethel. Yeah, that town of Bethel. It's about 5-10 minutes from their house to Max Yasgur's farm. Actually, if you've heard of (or even taken a defensive driving class from) Bethel Safety Associates, that's my father-in-law!

And how do you end up going through Guilderland? Do you go up I-88, then across I-90 to the Northway? If so, then you pass maybe half a mile from my house on that stretch of I-90.

Have never been to Kauneoga Lake, but have heard of it, bet they love the little get togethers at Yasgur's farm!

And yes, that is how we go up to the North Country. My husband went to Plattsburgh State, loved it up there and we continue to make the occasional trip.

Actually, they're rooting for a permanent amphitheater and museum to be built on the site, because it's a great stimulus for the economy there.

We usually go down to their house via Thruway to Kingston, down 209 to 52 to 42 to 17 to 17B.

As you go past the overpass before the one at Exit 25, wave!
