Where do you buy your Disney Gift Cards?

I have read several of you say that you stockpile Disney Gift Cards in between trips for souvenirs and food and sometimes even for paying for the lodging itself. Where do you find the gift cards? I have only seen them at Target and only in $50 increments. I looked at Walmart and Publix and haven't found them. Thinking of asking the in-laws for such cards for my birthday and my DD birthday.

The cards can be used at 95%+ of the on-site places. And most places that *don't* accept the Disney gift cards will accept a room charge account, so you can then use the gift cards to pay off the charges.

A trick I like to use is to cash in my loose-change cup and get a Disney gift card for it. The CoinStar machine at one of my local grocery stores (Stop & Shop) gives out fee-free Stop & Shop gift cards when you cash in your coins. I then use the Stop & Shop gift card to purchase one of the $25/$50/$100 Disney gift cards that the store sells.

My wife ordered them from Disney Store for my last birthday and I'm expecting to receive one for upcoming Fathers day. But last week we were shopping at our local BJ's wholesale club and saw a rack of gift cards displayed, and there jumping out at us were Disney Gift Cards in 3 different denominations, $25, $50 and $100. I know where I'll be visiting just before our September trip.

Our church has a program called "Scrip" through which you buy giftcards for several retailers and each retailer gives a percentage of the purchase back to my church. They sell Disney Giftcards in $50, $100 or $1000 increments. So, I buy $100 or $1000 depending on what I'm buying them for. I plan to pay my entire vacation using this program so that my church gets a portion of the money I would already be spending. They also sell Yak and Yeti giftcards, so I may pick up one of those to eat at AK one day!

I use the SCRIP program at my/my kids school. Since we are a private school the school gets 50% of the rebate and I get the other 50% off my kids tuition.

I haven't noticed them at my local BJs, but that might be a better deal. The card would cost less and I'd get BJs rewards points back.

I wonder how you get the SCRIP program with the gift cards for schools? My daughter goes to a private school and I may be teaching up there next year. This would be awesome for us!

I don't know how you get your school started but here's the link to the SCRIP website http://www.shopwithscrip.com/ Last year the school got 60% of the rebate and the parents got 40, this year it is 50/50. At the end of the school year we have the choice of applying our portion of the rebate to our tuition, donating it to another family (for families leaving at the end of the year), or donating it to the Angel Fund to help families who are struggling financially. I've been buying gift cards for birthday gifts, teacher gifts, etc. this year and I think I've earned $15 towards next year's tuition. It doesn't seem like much but it's for buying something I would have bought any way.

My children are in Private school too, about two years ago our Dioceses made a ruling we could not use the SCRIPS towards tution. but the PTO gets the procedes. I am PTO President and we use the money for books, teacher salaries, library books etc so at least the school benfits. Our students do not sell anything so SCRIPT is a good solution.

Sorry, forgive me, if I'm the one who doesn't know this-

Are there any real perks to the Disney GCs? I'm assuming you pay $50 cash for a $50 GC, or do you get a discount?

I purchased most of mine at Sams Club last year when they had a free 3-D Vinylmation pin packaged with it plus it sold for under face value. Ex: $50.00 giift card was only $49.88 I believe. But free pin for something I was going to purchase was good enough. I heard the previous year they had a free Disneystore only Gift card with purchase of a Disney Gift card. Paid off my 2 week trip resort, tix and all with gift cards. Buy them go home and apply to booked trip balance. Walgreens and Domicks sells them. Target does as well but we didn't get the red debit card to take advantage of the 5% savings before our trip. Disney Store and Disney Store.com each sells the gift cards.

They can be used at all resorts, parks, Disney shops, food stands that accept credit card payments and Disney restaurants.

Well, I often get them at work as little added incentives (which reminds me, they owe me one), but my local grocery store also gets them in...in addition to the Disney Store. But...I do love the fuel rewards at Kroger with gift card purchases.
Same here, this is how we pay for our trips, we get the $500gc at Kroger, then pay off our trips with those, usually end up getting a couple of free tanks of gas out of them with all the fuel points we save up.
