Where do you buy personalized mouse ears?

Hi there! Going to WDW next week and I promised co-workers to pick up mouse ears for their kids. Do all the parks have the personalized (names on them) mouse ears or is it just a Magic Kingdom thing? Thanks!
Any recommended locations to pick these up without waiting a long time would be much appreciated.

We bought ours at a hat store right in the beginning of Main Street. It was over a year ago, so can't remember the exact shop. It was on the right, near the Candy store I think.

We walked right in and a cast member took care of us and got some ears done for our nephew. Only took a few minutes.

I know for sure that Magic Kingdom (The Chappeau on Main Street), DHS (store halfway up Hollywood Blvd., on the right) and Downtown Disney (Disney's Days of Christmas) can do embroidery personalization. Not sure about DAK or Epcot. Last I knew, The Chappeau was the only one left doing the embroidery on a hand-operated machine, giving the classic script look to it. The others use an automated embroidery machine which looks neater, but, in my opinion, not nearly as cool.

I'm not sure if WDW does this, but in Disneyland I bought the hats in one store (the big Emporium on Main St.,) then got them embroidered at another (the hat shop across the street) the next day. I just needed to show the receipt.

If I recall, embroidery isn't free or included in the cost of the ears. I know you can buy the ears one day and have them embroidered at the Christmas shop at DTD. Like another poster stated, the only place I know you can get the classic-looking embroidery is at The Chappeau on Main St. It's really cool to see those ladies run the ears thru those big, noisy machines. It's fun to watch. Seems like there was a small charge (I'm thinking between $3 & $7) for the embroidery there. It's hard to remember. The first set we had done they gave us the ears and embroidery as a 'Magical Moment' thing. On our last night I went back to get 4 sets of ears for all the grandparents back home. I paid for the ears but they gave me the embroidery for free as another 'Magical Moment'. :)

Like already stated. The store is right at the beginning of Main Street on the right if you are facing the castle. I think it was around $8.00 for the hat and the stitching.

My wife and I were arguing last time we went, she was pregnant with our son. She wanted Joshua, I wanted Joseph. So, as a joke, I bought a hat and had Joseph stitched on the back. She wasn't pleased.

Joseph still wears the hat! :sohappy: I Won!

What everyone said is right on the money.

Waiting time - minimal. Maybe, maybe, you have to wait for one other set before yours get done. It's not as if there is a line of people waiting for ears to be made.

Also, be aware, they will not put nicknames on the hats. No "stinky" or "spanky" or "red" - only the real names

Now, there are people that will brazen it out and say "I named my kid Stinky, who are you to tell me that is not a real name" Sometimes they will do the name, other times not. I guess you could make a case for somthing like "Red" or "Sport" or "Soda" :) but Stinky may be pushing it a bit.

In Feb. '06 my daughter got her "ears" from a little shop. It was located behind the castle, after you've passed through the tunnel on the Fantasyland side. The shop was kind of small and they did embroidery in the back. The ears cost $7.50. I can't remember if they charged for the embroidery.

It used to be free to embroider the name if you purchased it at one of the stores that do the embroidery but now they charge an additional fee. They started charging a year or so ago.

I think someone reported a few months back that it was around $13 total for ears plus embroidery.

Note: They will NOT do any nickname or such. ONLY a proper name.

I really think it's kinda unfair to the kids whose names aren't in the Official Disney Approved Name book. :(

But that's just me.
Well I bought a pair a few years ago for a friend of mine in Norway and they didn't flinch at doing "Kjersti" which I was worried they would. Still, it can be hard when the name is uncommon or oddly spelled if they think you're giving them a nick or such instead.

I just returned from the World 2 weeks ago. I can tell you that the charge for embroidery @ the Chapeau in MK was $2. When we were there in August of 06, it was still free but my daughter bought herself a pair of Pirate Princess ears this trip and paid the extra $2 for her name. We all won a set of Mickey Dream ears which I'm told by another poster can be embroidered for free, we did not. Wishin now we would have. Heck, I would have paid the additional $2. :brick:

The thing is, just about any name is in "the book". If you named you kid "Seven" al la George Costanza and asked for it on the hat, teh CM may say no. So you ask to see the manager. You explain that your kid is indeed named "seven" and that should work. If the manager says no, you go up the food chain. They want to please the guest and if you tell them thats the persons name, somebody will finally approve it.

Everytime I see people walking around with the dream ears my hubby nudges me and rubs it in that I don't have any. LOL! I swear, I'm gonna full-on tackle someone and snatch the ears one of these days. LOL! Just kidding! I wouldn't really. I just want a pair sooooo soooooooooo bad!!!! Congrats on your win!
