When will Universal Orlando go smoke free?

True. I forgot all about the dangers of secondhand calories...
Don't be ignorant. Walking past someone smoking OUTDOORS has zero negative health consequences whatsoever. You inhale more carcinogens from car exhaust when you drive to work in the morning than you would sitting in a smoke-filled bar or casino, let alone the dissipation that happens from a single cigarette (or even several cigarettes) smoked outside.

The only people claiming secondhand smoke isn't dangerous are the selfish smokers who think they can do whatever they want.
Wrong. I'm not a smoker and never have been, but my decision not to partake in an activity doesn't mean I want to ban others from doing so just because I find it distasteful.

Well, science has proven you and them wrong. Secondhand smoke IS dangerous. That's a fact. Your refusal to agree doesn't make you right or change what is factual.
Wrong.

As long as people follow rules and smoke in designated areas, I'm ok. Sure, smoking is a smelly and dangerous addiction, but as long as I don't have to smell it, not my problem. I'm not going to get cancer waking past a few smoking sections. That said, I am schocked at how many people seem to smoke when I'm in Florida. I guess it is a cultural thing. Smokers in MA are few and very far between. Not making a judgement statement, just an observation.

As with everything, if people follow the rules, usually things are ok. I don't love dogs, but if they are leashed in my neighborhood, it is no concern of mine. When they run free against the laws and try to attack my kids, then that's a problem.

The links you provided state that a recent study shows no clear link between 2nd-hand (or passive smoking) and lung cancer. I find it interesting that the study (per the Journal of the National Cancer Institute) did show this, " Passive smoking has many downstream health effects—asthma, upper respiratory infections, other pulmonary diseases, cardiovascular disease—but only borderline increased risk of lung cancer." Just because there may not be a direct link between passive smoking and lung cancer does not mean it's not without health risks and it's ok to sit there and inhale. While those who feel they must partake in smoking, by all means feel free to light up in the designated smoking section.

Uhhhh, remember this thread was created to troll for controversy.

Don't play to the troll - unless you like that stuff.

How many animated films had the central theme of the bad guy feeding off the hate and all they did was stop and change to non participation or understanding to kill the troll?

If I'm stuck walking behind a smoker, I have trouble breathing. I'm fairly certain that's a telltale sign that it's not safe. This is common sense.
And good golly, how rude do you have to be to light up, completely aware (or ignorant) that everyone around you finds it unpleasant. It'd be like providing those in your immediate vicinity with a loud recording of cats howling, just because you enjoy it.

Fair enough, but there's nuance there. I don't think a person should be smoking in common space if it might make others uncomfortable, whether for health reasons or just because they don't like the smell. However, there's a big difference between "doing that thing is a *jerk* move" and "doing that thing should be outlawed."

As a non- smoking Floridian, I'd have to agree, I think there A LOT of smokers down here! I think it's because everyone moves down here to die, and they're really not interested in their health anymore:D. I think most people ARE considerate smokers in the parks and stay in the designated area. If they're being downright rude and blowing smoke in my face, I ask them to nicely move. People USUALLY are respectful when treated with respect.

Let me guess you are also against alcohol sales at Epcot and think everyone there is a ragging out of control alcoholic? Just taking a guess.

You pro or against alcohol sales at Epcot?
I'm a no harm, no foul kind of guy. Alcohol is a part of every culture, so it only makes sense to include them. It's just personal responsibility to not drink to excess.

I can deal, as long as people stay where they're supposed to be. It's those that disregard the rules that need a swift kick.
