When will star tours preview?

Yeah, the construction dates are quite different between the two properties.

Disneyland Star Tours
Closed July 27th, 2010
Officially Opens June 3rd, 2011

WDW Star Tours
Closed September 8th, 2010
Officially Opens May 20th, 2011

The Disneyland construction dates have 7 additional weeks of closure padded in there, and the WDW closure would seem to be a much tighter construction schedule. And yet the WDW version of the ride has six Starspeeders to replace and work on, while the smaller Disneyland version has just four Starspeeders and a smaller queue area, so you would think it would be the opposite and WDW would have needed the 7 extra weeks of work.

You also have to consider Disneyland's version was built into an existing building and opened several years before WDW's, which had a building made for the ride.

CMs haven't reported yet for training, so still nothing concrete in terms of previews.

Does anyone know much about star tours 2? Do you think it's going to be amazing? I really haven't followed it much.

If you have Facebook, you should like this page devoted to Star Tours: The Adventures Continue.

The new Star Tours will be in Digital 3-D, set between the first and second Star Wars trilogies, will feature lots of your favorite Star Wars characters, features a new queue and cabin effects and will have 54 possible variations.

Is it me, or are you trying to get us to read something between the lines?

Although I can't figure out what it might be, so maybe I'm just too sensitive to some secret surprise we'll find on the new Star Tours next month?

Well, it does open next month, so hopefully you'll find out pretty much everything!

I've posted this before on another thread, but I'm pretty sure the reason for the shorter time line with WDW is because all of the testing and a lot of the internal construction was done on the old Body Wars simulators. The only thing that had to be done in Star Tours itself and DHS was the construction. DL did not have this luxury and took the extra time. PLUS the ride HAD to be open for Star Wars Weekends which start 3rd week of May.

Wouldn't be a bit difficult for them to test the new Star Tours movie on Body Wars, since the new simulators for Star Tours has a lot more range of movement than the old simulators that Body Wars has? That and all the animatronics onboard the Starspeeder wouldn't be on the Body Wars simulator, so it'd be hard to test those and make sure that they're synchronized with the movie.

I mean no offense, but I find it a little bit odd that they'd do testing on obsolete equipment in another park. I could be completely wrong though.

Luckily I'll be there from May 15th-20th, so I get to be there on the grand opening. If there are no soft openings, I'm hoping the wait isn't too astronomical that Friday.

Body Wars used the exact same simulator tech as the original Star Tours. Not only that, but it's been closed for years. They could have installed new sims in there to test Star Tours.

It's the grand opening of a new E-ticket attraction on Star Wars Weekends...expect 2-5+ hours waits out of the gate unless you get there super early.

I know that, but it seems like a lot of extra work for them to install all of that in a totally different park just to test.

They had a open casting call for extra Fur and Face, and I tried out.I am working as a friend of Chewbacca for Stars Wars Weekends!!! Was kinda easy being I used to be in creative in high school and college, and still have friends in that dept.;)They are telling us that there will be a couple of soft opening during the later part of the week, just before the opening on the 20th.

Was hoping it would have been like an everest sneak peak that was Jan 20th
2006 (or 21st)....and then ride didnt officially open till april....

By the sounds and loooks from the photos, its not going to happen at the beginning of the month.
Guess I have to wait till October

So, what you all are saying is that I won't see any preview while I'm down May 8th-14th?
