When is EPCOT going to add another country?!

What new country pavilion would you like to see in EPCOT?

The difference here is that Wales is a part of the UK, and the republic of Ireland is an independent country.

Yea.

Considering the popularity of the show and the way it's interwoven in the past 50+ years of culture in the UK itd be a fun option back there. Even if your one word response tells me you're not a fan.

:eek:My original post was typed on my phone with a N. before Ireland, yet my phone is on the fritz apparently and I just noticed now I am on the computer. This forum isn't very easy to use on the phone.
I still don't think Ireland is the best fit though, so many other parts of the world that could be represented.

Anyone say Brazil?

Could be a base for the tour groups...

I think Brazil would be an excellent choice. Thne tour groups would be excited to see a bit of home in Disney World, and it would provide an avenue for Americans to learn a bit more about Brazilian culture.

As to tradition, I too loved the idea of having gone on Maelstrom, but must admit that I only rode it a handful of times even though I've gone to Epcot dozens of times over the last 13 years. The trolls were cool, and the ride had just enough thrill to make me feel overall that it was an experience. Nevertheless, there seemed to be gaps in the whole thing, and it certainly lost its Wow factor a long time ago. In short, I think I like the idea of it more than actually riding it.

By contrast, I really miss the original Mexican Boat ride. The 3 Cabelleros are okay, but the old ride had an immersive air of mystery about it that animated birds really don't have. Yeah, the old ride was very dated, but the new one is so obviously commercial that I have a hard time thinking that Mexican natives would actually be proud of it. Oh well, progress.

Just don't build the Ireland pavillion any where near the United Kingdom pavillion.

About to blow your mind. How about a Cuba entry? We know it is controversial but we seem to be talking about educating people and having good food too. Not sure what the ride would be, but all those 1950's era cars, come on, priceless. Our top three would be Cuba, Greece, Hungary.

Hmmm... Given that relations have been improving significantly in a relatively short span of time, not a bad idea. Some Cubans in the U.S. might vehemently oppose the idea, however. They were quite vocal about how they felt Obama's visit was a betrayal.

Only 7 now, the Frozen M&G took one of those 8 spots.

It's kind of sad that a M&G took up an entire spot for a country. Not that they don't have other unused plots which will probably never be used, it is just kind of telling of the current management mentality to put a M&G in a country's spot.

Bring back the Millennium Village concept, only renew the countries represented annually like an Auto Show!

Then it could be more about celebrating the culture (food, shopping, customs, music, people) than an attraction. Best cup of coffee I've ever had was at the Eritrean coffee ceremony at Millennium Village. We still have knick-knacks purchased from Venezuela as well ... and based on the volume I would say it was popular. Certainly the data out of the Food and Wine Fests would prove useful to select those which are popular. I would even be in favor of a 'States' pavilion with rotational showcase states. That model seems sustainable without a tremendous amount of investment from WDW or the country/state.

I so nearly made a thread about this, great minds think alike I guess...

I would love to see India and Australia, however I wouldn't mind a South American country also, I feel there are enough European countries as is.

Epcot could certainly do with something new, especially if it created a new ride!;)

I want more countries too. The issue I see is some countries are quite similar to existing ones. For example. Sweden and Finland are similar to Norway, Spain or Brazil are obvious choices for me. 1st off wdw attracts quite a Brazilian crowd so I think it's do well, the culture isn't too close to that of Mexico either.

Oh, come on... Epcot opened 34 years ago and nothing has been added to it and in all likelihood nothing will be added. Countries no longer are willing to cough up a lot of money when there is an internet available for almost nothing. They took up an empty lot that otherwise would never be used. Please, let's throw in a little reality mingled with our fantasy. I'm happy that they found a use for it other then grow grass and creepy, crawly things that tend to inhabit empty places. I'd like to see them put those other "empty" spaces to use even if it, god forbid isn't in keeping with the original intent of EPCOT Ctr.

You're not wholly wrong. It's unlikely they'll do anything else with the empty spots. They used to have M&Gs (maybe still do?) in the Communicore/Innoventions space. It's just sad to me that the new attraction is: M&G. It really feels like:
1) They've given up
2) This is as good as it's going to get

Brazil, India, Australia, or the UAE would be my biggest guesses if they ever got around to building a new country (I mean, they made Arendelle happen, they can make an actual country happen too). I would be totally fine with Brazil, India, or the UAE, if I had to pick between the four of them personally. Australia might be too similar in terms of food to other countries (though I have personally never been there, so correct me if I am wrong). I'd be impressed if Disney turned the Outpost into an actual equatorial African country.
Before any new nations happened, my guess is that they'll finally add attractions to Japan or Germany. I'm not holding my breath, but I would love to see a Ghibli attraction in Japan.
