When Does the reality that your trip is over set ?

I, too, feel that way in stages.

The last night, when I say Kungaloosh to my fellow adventurers. That's when I'd say the first wave hits me.

The next is when the 5 O'Clock wakeup call comes and then we board the Magical Express Bus.....and I have to watch the goodbye part of the video.

And lastly, when I pass the Disney Store at the Airport and see Goofy with all of those treats. That's when it really hits.

Man, now I'm depressed  I think I'll look at my Yahoo Photo album and reminisce.

For me it the reality set in as the Mears shuttle was going back to the airport. Then it hit again as we were waiting for our flight back to Dulles. :(

I think the defining moment was on the last day when we visitied DTD again and had our final lunch at Earl of Sandwich and did our last bit of shopping before we had to catch the shuttle.

My last day, when I am leaving whatever park I am at. This trip my last night was spent at Magic Kingdom, last ride on the monorail was sad.Hearing everyone that I went with saying, "I don't want to go home."

Back at the hotel packing for the trip home.

For me, it usually starts to hit home the morning of the next-to-last day, when cooking up a mess o' breakfast for whatever horde I'm there with at OKW, thinking "AAAAAH, tomorrow morning I have to pack all this junk up that I drove down here last week!!!!"

Doesn't help that I'm a chronic over-packer, since we drive down in a minivan :hammer: But if you ever need to borrow a waffle iron, coffee bean grinder, lasagna pan, crock pot, or almost any other kitchen item you can think of, let me know when I'm down there next!

We usually avoid the parks on the departure day, and instead hit the shops at DD pretty hard, and get one last meal at lunch before the long drive home. That is when it really hits, merging onto I-4, and no longer seeing all the colorful WDW signs.

-when I realize that I can't use my Disney card to pay for things anymore. (funny story: Got back from my trip this past Thursday, went to Chili's to eat dinner, by force of habit I handed the server my Disney card as payment, she comes back 10 minutes later to inform me that my card has been declined. Never even noticed it wasnt a real credit card!)

OMG my stomach hurts from laughing! How frickin funny is that!!

I always dread the last day of my Disney trips. It's so hard to enjoy that day because you know that the next day at that time you'll be back to reality again. It really hits me when I have to start cleaning up after myself again (doing dishes, mopping the floor, blech). The best part about vacation is no housework!

I am new to this forum and have really enjoyed reading so far! I am glad I am not the only one who feels this way about Disney. I have only visited Disneyland CA with my family twice before. We are already freaking out about our first trip to WDW next year! It looks like the same emotions we felt leaving Disneyland CA will definately carry over when we end our vacation at WDW. Looking forward to reading and posting in the future. At least I will have something to pass the time until we go on our trip next year! Man I hope this winter goes bye fast!!!!!!

So saaaaad

It all ends the last day that we go to a Disney park, just walking to the exit.... that usually it's MK, just by entering the shops of Main Entrance at night tells me that it's all over......

This thread is making me sad! and my next vacation is 35 days, 4 hours, and 35 minutes away! (but who is counting....)

Lets think happy thoughts.....

So at what point does vacation START for everyone?

when I was a kid, it was when we were in the car heading towards Midway airport, with our first stop being Krispy Kreme for hot and fresh donuts. mmmm.

Now, as a adult, it is the MINUTE I walk out of work the day before we go. I like to think to myself..."this is the exact point where I stop caring about work, and I can think dinsey!", and I happily skip to my car and drive home singing disney songs!

35 Days, 4 hours 28 minutes to go......until my happy skip out of work!

We listen to Disney music all the way home, and when we get home, I have all those new T-shirts and souvenirs to sort out. I'm still in "the zone." The magic fades fast when I get to work and see how much stuff has piled up on my desk while I'm gone. It usually takes me months to recover from that stress, then it's time to hit the road to WDW again!!!:sohappy:

For us, it's when we check out of the resort. It's so depressing...I literally pout all the way to the check out counter and watch Check-in guests and do this  and in the Spirit of Ohana I do alittle of this :) and once the Check in guests are out of sight I do alot of this :( ...Finally, I plan my next visit on the short ride home and afterwards I feel like this :sohappy: .

I always get so freakin' depressed when I take that last walk down Main Street heading away from the castle. I always keep turning around to take one last look at it. I just refuse to talk on the monorail ride back to the TTC. I just lean against the window & fight back the tears. Then seeing the castle in the distance out the window just kills me. Then the next day, driving through the main WDW gates and looking back watching it shrink into the distance. That's when reality snaps back in the worst way. Man, this is a depressing thread.

vacation

My vacation starts as soon as I purchase the plane tickets....It all keeps getting worse (emotionally speaking) as I keep purchasing the hotel, car rental, disney tickets...
