When do you think there will be a new park at WDW?

In a perfect world (Meaning they actually fix the current parks), I'd say 2030-2035 would be the earliest time to get n announcement. That's still a stretch, though.

I'm one of the few people who don't think a 5th gate is impossible. I think it will happen, eventually. In the near future? No. But I could see it happening in the next 20-50 years.

But if they did, what would the theme be? I wouldn't want them to open a 5th gate unless it was incredible theming. So for the sake of discussion, what could the theme be?

And yes, I know this isn't an imperfect world and it's likely that some things won't be fixed until someone who cares enough is in charge. For all we know, that person could be me lol!

This goes against Walt's vision, but I would love to see a 5th park with a Villains theme with all thrill rides. It would get the 15 - 30's in there and hopefully keep them away from Universal. My brother and sister in law are huge Disney fans, but their 3 boys (17, 13, and 11) would rather go to Universal because there isn't enough thrills in the 4 gates.

They are probably going to build a fifth gate when capacity at the other four parks is at the brim and expansion would not be enough, and with the capacity they have now, that's not anytime soon. So I would say unless anything major happens not for at least another 7-15 years. Most likely it will be on the high end of that number or even higher because DLR will likely earn another gate (don't know how with space issues) due to its 8% annual attendance growth.

I hope never. Focus on these four now. There's still so much to be done. And I'm not talking about putting in a Cars Land, Star Wars Land, etc. I'm talking about refurbishing, updating (returning things to their former glory, etc).

I'm with everyone here who says we don't need a new park. We simply need the current parks to be upgraded and worked with better.
Besides that, I was there for a week on my last trip and still didn't get to do everything I wanted. I don't want to think about how much MORE time and money another park would eat up X__X

Epcot, DHS and AK were all built in around 3 years, Mk came in near 4. If they were to build another park I have no doubt that the 3-4 year time frame would hold.

Thats about the same timeframe that was given to New Fantasyland. Their building speed really slowed down

I guess that makes sense. But also, expansions (such as FLE, the rumored Cars and Star Wars lands, ect) when they're done being built, people would buy tickets to see the new things. I know a few people who cancelled trips and then rescheduled them when FLE would be fully open. So the faster they build, the more money they are making off of it. But new parks would obviously make more money.

True. It is a constant balancing act between getting new sales and keeping the books as far in the black as possible.
