When do you book?

We are planning for July 2008. When do you think we should make our reservations? I know sometimes discounts and codes come out, but when? I don't think the 2008 prices/packages are out yet.
Dinner reservations can still be made 90 days in advanced? I guess I'm planning too early to make room reservations?

I would book as soon as you are sure of your dates. That should insure you get the resort you want. You can always keep checking back to see if any deals come available. They are really good about giving you any new discounts.

499 days out - Room only to get the perfect room.
180 days out - all ADRs to get exactly the restaurants and times we want
As available - packages or discounts as released unless they require relinquishing perfect room booked previously

Marie from KK is getting used to my obsessive-compulsive behaviour... :lookaroun

I hope!

Looks exactly like my obsessive schedule!:D

Quick question, we're staying off site in November, do I have to wait until 90 days out for ADRs because I'm not on-site, or has it changed to 180 for everyone?

I understood it to be 180 days for ANYONE, not just on property guests. They'll simply attach the reservation to your phone number. I know we made our reservations well before we had actually booked any hotel package... wishful thinking I guess

As for packages? For this year, no official packages were released to the public for the month of July:

Mousesavers.com:
For travel 6/3/07-8/4/07 Annual Passholder room-only rates for Deluxe/DVC resorts (released 5/16/07)

For travel 7/1/07-8/4/07 Annual Passholder room-only rates for Moderate resorts (released 5/16/07)

For travel 6/3/07-8/4/07 Florida resident room-only rates for Deluxe/DVC resorts (released 5/17/07)

For travel 7/1/07-8/4/07 Florida resident room-only rates for Moderate resorts (released 5/17/07)

If you are very interested in a specific resort, you are allowed to book a room only reservation. I believe I could book for 7/08 under the 2007 rates and be notified of the rate change when its released. When and if a package is released, you are welcome to "convert" your room only reservation to the package, but be aware that you might not be able to keep your resort choice. Example: those who booked Pop Century prior to for Free Dinning. Once the package was released, PC had very limited availability and several had to move to a different value or mod to take advantage of Free Dinning.

180 days is the outside limit for non-guests. If you have a reservation. you can book ADRs for up to a ten day stay at the 180 day point from your check in date [potentially booking up to 190 days in advance...]

reserve a range of dates

okay this may have been covered in the reply of others but let me share with you what we do. we have annual passes.that said you cannot know when or if the AP discounts are available. so what we do is when we know the approx. dates that we want to be in WDW what we will do is make reservations for that period of time and pad it with several days prior and after our preferred dates. this gives us the flexibilty of dates should we decide to fly allowing us to pick the most economical dates in that range and also gives us the ability to not miss a discount by a day.

now i understand that WDW may be changing their process in 2008 making this a harder thing to do which is ashame since we travel there several times a year and the supposed 2008 policy would seem to punish the frequent loyal several time a year guess in favor of the occasional guess.

I have tried to get some pricing ideas for fall 2008 and have gotten an error message that I can only book 3 days in advance, I never saw this error when I booked my December 2007 trip in May. Has any one else gotten this message? I am not quite sure what to make of it...my only thought it is due to the pricing guidelines. I hope it goes away beacuse I like to book faaar in advance and make monthly payments.

Welcome to the boards Santa's surpriz!!! The 2008 rates have not been released as of yet. Hopefully they will be within the next few weeks. Once they are released, you will be able to check the prices. If you'd like, I'd be happy to give you a quote when they come out. You can contact me at Elizabeth@kingdomkonsultant.com .

We book as soon as the dates come available, if or when the discount rate come out we just call and ask for the change. 90% of the time we get the discount.
