In 2003 when I was 3 I got to go to disney for my 1st time, when I saw one of thos big characters walking around the park.... I would cry, a day later on my trip my mom got me small mickey mouse stuffed animal I had it where ever i went now I have a collection of 13 mickey mouse stuff animals I was hooked since then ( also going to disney 24 times since then might have helped develop my love). PS to this day those big characters scare me sooooo much.

that's cute Meredith...I actually have some stuffed Disney animals

I've been going every year since 1998, and I cannot remember much about what my 6 year-old self thought about visiting the parks first time around... but I do remember watching the Disney advert loop for the first time and just feeling so excited at the prospect of being 5 minutes away from such a magical place. Every time I hear the Zip-a-dee-doo-dah Tip-for-today tune I still get goosebumps! ...it wasn't until several years later and discovering the online Disney community that I developed such an appreciation for Walt Disney World and an appreciation for all the wonderful experiences I have had throughout the years :)

this is true...the more you learn about Disney the more you develope that appreciation

I was brought to WDW at just months old and at least once a year thereafter. I can't really think of a defining moment because I was lucky enough to always have it a part of my life.

I do remember that what kept me wanting to go back was little things like being the first in HS, just me and my dad and we would do TOT, RNR, & Muppet3D then we would spend the rest of the day at the pool. It was special us time and my siblings and Mom stayed back at the resort. Also, nothing was more memorable that waiting for the Boon, Crockette, Chip & Dale busses at Fort Wilderness which is where we always stayed. Always getting yelled at by my parents for climbing all over teh bus stop railings.. "You are going to hurt yourself!! Get Down!" The hoop - de - doo was an absolute favorite as well.

GAWD...I wish I could have gone as a kid...I mean, I'm a big kid at heart now...I might have been even more awestruck

That just reminded of another family related Disney memory. My grandfather, before he retired, was quite high up at a large bank in this country. Which, to put it nicely, he is quite well off. Also, he has been very generous with his money to his children and grandchildren. He always says he'd rather see us do good things and have a great time with the money while he's alive than after he passes away.

Anyway, for Christmas the year before my first WDW trip, he handed me an envelope. I opened it, and inside was a cheque for £2000. I was bowled over. But not as bowled over as I was when I read the card that came with it. "to help you with your trip to Florida. Start planning!" He paid for half of our trip. I couldn't believe it. I had dreamed about it for six years and now I was going to go. By Christmas the next year we were flying home from Florida.

I know it's not a Disney memories thread, but it all contributed to why I love Disney. And I just wanted to share how awesome my family is too. :p

It was great and we were very lucky growing up. The best part is that I never got tired of it, it never got boring. It is still one of my favorite places on Earth! I am that big kid at heart as well!

When I was younger I was lucky enough to visit the World twice. In 1999 my hubby and I decided to make it our honeymoon destination. All 3 of those trips were great, however, I didn't really realize how much I loved Disney until I took my children for the first time! They are now 8, 5, and 2 and we are AP holders. My 8 and 5 year old are getting ready for their 6th trip! I think seeing Disney through the eyes of a child and experiencing it with them really touches my heart. Now my hubby and I want to plan a "mommy/daddy only" trip. :)

Well, the story how I loved and appreciated the great Walt Disney World is a much different tale than everyone else's.

You see, the first time I went to Disney World when I was 2 but I hardly have any memories of it. We went again when I was 11 so that my younger brother could see it but in all honesty, it wasn't that memorable. We spent most of our Orlando trip in a park that shall not be named and only two days at Disney and this was during a time where I wasn't the huge Disney fan that I am now. My interest in Disney was revitalized during my mid-teens and I decided to go with my high school class on our senior trip to WDW, which was the first time in seven years I'd got to see WDW and then, I fell in love with the place afterwards. That trip was so memorable words can't describe it. Walking down Main Street and just staring in awe and amazement of Cinderella Castle, getting to meet my favorite characters for the first time at the age of 18 and being able to go on the Disney World rides I wanted to ride for the first time ever. It was truly a feeling of pure happiness and experiencing that feeling made love the place so much and wanting to be go back, which I've been fortunate to do twice in the past four years and hopefully, many more to come!
