What's your strategy?

We will be at the world for 2 days at the end of the month, one day for MK and one day for F&W. This trip will be the first with DD4 big enough for SM and BTMRR. She also must do the Pooh ride (the real name is totally escaping me right now), PPF and Buzz Lightyear. Also, that night there is MNSSHP which we do not plan on attending so the park will be closing at 7. My question - what is your strategy for getting all the FP rides in? We have not ridden the mountains in a few years due to DD, so we have not had to think about this for a a while. Thanks in advance everyone for all the ideas! :D

Use the Disney wait time app to help you with this too. We go to the left - ride Jungle Cruise, Magic Carpets, Pirates, and head into Frontier Land. Usually one of the mountains is a doable wait time to stand in line so we grab the other one. So for example, grab Thunder Mountain FP and ride Splash and head to Haunted and Hall of Presidents, usually can grab a FP for Peter Pan at this time and then ride Small World, Mickey's Philharmagic, go back and ride Thunder Mountain, have lunch, and head back to Fantasy Land. Depending on time, we either ride Peter Pan and then head to Tomorrow Land. (we don't ride Dumbo or the carousal b/c we are saving that for kids) This is where it gets tricky. We just navigate through Tomorrow Land based on what the wait times are. Usually ride Tomorrow Land Transit, Carasol of Progress and Monsters Inc. We found Space Mountain didn't have long waits so we were able to just hop on there. We then pull a fast pass for Buzz, ride Space and head back to Peter Pan. Usually we also do Pirates and Haunted again. Then pull a FP for Winnie and then go back to Buzz. We ride whatever we want/can while we wait for Winnie. At some time, break for dinner and then once all have been ridden, we just lap back around and do what we can.

I will be honest, depending on crowd levels and closing at 7, you might not get to it all. Also, you may want to spend the money for touringplans.com to help you with this. :)

wow, that is crazy!! We never get that much in. We might have to step it up this time!! DD is really wanting to try Splash and BTMRR, so we might focus on those 2. Thankfully she's not big enough for Space Mountain yet. Thank you for the awesome game plan!

At rope drop, I'd head straight to Space Mountain then Buzz Lightyear. Head to Fantasyland, grab FPs for Peter Pan, then ride the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. At that point, you can head to Frontierland. Wait for one of BTMRR or Splash Mountain. After riding, your FPs for Peter Pan should be available, so grab FPs for BTMRR or Splash, whichever you didn't ride. Go ride Peter Pan, do other stuff, then use the BTMRR/Splash FPs. Then, have lunch. :D

It seems a lot of people on these forums have gameplans for their entire day pretty much. When we go we usually have a plan on what ride to FP right away and what we are doing right after that. Then we pretty much wing it the rest of the day. We never do a park the same way twice. I would say, though, that the rides to FP first are Splash, and BTMRR (since your DD won't be able to do Space yet.) Good luck with your planning! :)

We dont usually set a game plan other then meal reservations. We know what park we're going to, based off crowd calendars, try and get there close to opening and other then that....we just do what we want! : )

Thanks everyone. It seems that this will be lots of firsts for us. We have never made rope drop either, but I have been preparing DH that it will be essential this time, we can sleep when we get kicked out at 7!! I think we will try frontierland first - ride either splash or BTMRR and FP the other since DD has never ridden those. The nwe can head to fantasyland and check out the ride times there since those are DD's favorites. Buzz will be last on the list, hopefully we can hit it during the parade (provided I can convince DD to skip the parade this time).

Question for the rope drop folks - what time should we leave Sports to get to MK in time? We have a car, but have no idea how packed it gets.

thanks again, you guys are great!!

I would advise (as stated above) left to Frontierland, riding one mountain, and grabbing the fp for the other. Then, immediatley grab the FP for PPF, and head to Pooh, SM Etc. This will of course depend on your fp windows. With a 7:00 closing, you must be there for the rope drop.

We made rope drop this year and left the resort at 7:30 and got there at 8:40 - cutting it a bit close as it starts about 8:45/850. We had issues with PORS buses to and from the MK so I am SO glad I gave myself the buffer. I thought for sure we would be there by 8 or 8:15. I am so glad I gave us extra time. Also, just so you know about having to leave at 7, make sure to stroll the shops on Main Street at the end of your trip. They won't kick you out if you are shopping for stuff. So don't waste time during the day to hit those shops - do it as you head out. Also, you can grab some Halloween cupcakes to go from the bakery on the way out.
