What's with the wait times!? (hint.. they're low)

I would honestly love Galaxy's Edge if it was in a third gate. My complaints are almost all tied to its contradictions to Disneyland's design.
Not to mention an ideal SWL in its own park (even if it shared part of the park with say, Marvel land) would be allowed to explore the full range of SW material, instead of just settling for part of the most current trilogy and ignoring arguably some of the most important aspects of the IP that endeared it to the public in the first place.

I don't know about you, but I don't want anyone telling me how much time I can spend in one area of the park. I get and agree with why they did it for the first couple weeks. But when the full land is opened someone should be able to spend as much time as they want in the land, or anywhere else in the park. They paid for the experience, so let them enjoy it for however long they want to stay in the land even if that is from opening to closing.

As for the third gate, well that ain't happening for many reasons for a long time if ever.
I don’t believe time restrictions are right either... nor am I advocating for them.

I personally just think that if a part of the park is so engrossing that it could even warrant someone spending 6-8 hours in just that area, it should be it’s own thing.

I mean I don’t know about you but I’ve never spent more than 4 consecutive hours in any land at any park. Never mind one with one ride and no sit down restaurant. I’d imagine that’s very rare.

I imagine that its only going to be that way for a short period of time, a little over a year. And mostly bloggers and APs will hang out in the land for more than 4 hours. Once the newness wears off it'll be a land just like any other where you spend a couple hours and leave.

Remember its the only place right now that has a bar inside the park. So just for that alone a lot of bloggers and APs are going to spend a lot of time in the land.

Yep- I'd still nitpick about the lack of original trilogy representation in the land, but I think overall I'd be far more open to Galaxy's Edge if it was in a third gate or DCA. I'd maybe even consider leaving Disneyland once or twice to experience it.

That's how you end up with a bunch of unfinished 'half day' parks... not that Disney would ever populate a resort with those... :angelic:
And that’s why I’d combine it with another, equally as ambitious land like Marvel Land.

Just for good measure you could also throw in a large scaled Arendelle/Fantasyland 2.0

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. Though I’d be surprised if by this time next year, once all reservations and (I’d assume) pass blackouts get lifted, the craziness will just normalize itself enough to consider it “just like any other” land.

I'm fairly indifferent on where Star Wars should've been built. For those opposed to putting it in DL proper, do you feel Disneyland should just remain as untouched as possible? Or would you favor expanding Disneyland with something other than Star Wars?

Other.
Something unique, original, groundbreaking, and not devoted to a singular IP (and not even the best parts of the IP at that).

I treat every trip to park like an Amazing Race. Gotta get on more rides than the other team! No time to slouch!

But really, no, I don't think you got my overall point.

You have a brand new area of the park... that has
- new merch to explore
- new entertainment offerings
- new roaming entertainment offerings
- placemaking to degrees Disney has never done before
- 3, 4, 5? different life size spaceships to checkout
- new food offerings (which you might need significant time to get to)
- A major E ticket to experience

And more..

If you don't take time to smell the roses... you're missing out. So yes, spending a lot of time will be possible for different types of people.

Theme parks are not about running from point to point. If they are to you, you'll never be satisfied.
There’s nothing else to do in SWGE. There’s little live entertainment unless you listen to a sales pitch about a plastic tube painted like a lightsaber.

Otherwise, the land is like Pandora at DAK: you walk in, you think it’s pretty, then you realize it’s a loop around some shops and two ride entrances. Done. The days of Walt’s “nooks and crannies to explore” are done.

... once again... none of that is contrary to my point.

My point is that SINCE you have all that (and soon to be more), it should have been fully fleshed out even more in its own park.

Sorry, nothing listed here takes significant time except getting into the cantina. ;)

I love to smell the roses. I can spend hours in World Showcase at Epcot; and let’s be honest—in its current state, that’s a big shopping mall. But out of the nine people I know who’ve been inside SWGE, all were disappointed. I’ll make up my own mind this October. :)

How long until you let it go?
I know what you're driving at and frankly, I "let it go" the moment they broke ground.
But you act like just because its reality A, I'm forbidden from still thinking it should have been reality B.

Don't worry, I won't bother you or anyone else with my thoughts on a third gate SWL. Let's only talk about real reality, OK?
