What's up with Expedition Everest?

I know rides go down all the time so it's annoying to post threads everytime they do. But I've been seeing a lot recently that they've been evacuated off of EE and that it's been breaking down a lot. Has it gone down for a big refurb since it opened?

I managed to ride it on the 13th, it broke down right after I got off. I'm guessing it was evacuated and it remained down for quite some time after (I don't even know if it ever came back online that day).

Honestly i've found a lot of the rides to be breaking down a lot more recently, at least in Magic Kingdom. Perhaps this is related to maintenance being reduced due to the cuts caused by Shanghai and MM+. Everest is obviously getting to where it needs a good thorough refurb. The yeti is not the only issue with it, needs a good cleaning and repainting. The ride is almost 10 years old now and is definitely looking it now.

Rode last weekend and it broke down as we were exiting. I dropped a photo in the sticky thread in the general section. Not sure how long it was down, though.

They refurb Matterhorn can't see why they can't do the same to EE.

Let's hope when Pandora opens they take the lengthy time to get it refurbed...10 Years running straight to keep guests in the park it needs it's own little R&R.
I know this has been the long-running theory, but personally I think it would make more sense to take it down for refurb before Avatar opens. Sure the park will struggle some without it, but it did survive before 2006, and it will be a little less painful if they give ample notice.

If I were Disney, i'd take it down for 4-6 months at the beginning of 2017. This way you have the capacity when it's really needed when the Avatar crowds come, similar to how they did Frozen and Soarin'. If they wait until Pandora opens, I fear EE may never get the refurb it needs.

It's sad but I can't help but believe that even with a refurb, that we won't likely see the yeti in his full "A" mode glory ever again. Sitting there locked in place all these years can't be good mechanically, but they've also trained most guests to believe that's the intention while making some concerned lawyers happy as well (see Big Thunder). Hope I'm wrong!

I think the Kong attraction is very definitely cause people to compare the two attractions...and people only ever remember the last 30 seconds of any ride...lol so they are going to remember Kong...and The Strobe Light. And though EE is really an amazing attraction, having the star moment not working, really hurts the overall show more than management seems to want to acknowledge... I agree they need to fix this before Avatar opens... it will be painful to have it down, but when the crowds come for Avatar...they are going to need to have everything up and running and looking amazing.
