Whats the real story behind Spectromagic, did they lie to us?

@FutureCEO like that is going to happen. Why should people on an unofficial Walt Disney World discussion forum not care to know what really happened? Not everyone wants to get hired by Disney and not everyone is satisfied that something no longer exists because somewhere along the line it was not maintained and that's all there is so move on and don't ask what can be done to keep that from happening again.

I still have a question about the parade to this day.

What are the Spectromen, are they half clown half robot? Because I remember they used to have lights on the costumes during the early years of the parade and weird hair back in 1991 - 1994 compared to their new looks. What role do they play, since they would mostly giggle and sing most of the time. Also It's hard to understand what some of them say. The only word I understand is "Electric Spectromagic", "Electric,Electric,Electric,Electric *Laughs*" and "*giggles* Look at him *giggles* Wow, look at him *giggles*".

Where is Photodave when we need him?

Here let me try: It is gone, done, in a landfill, muerto, not coming back. Gone for years. It will not be rebuilt. Nothing was saved. Get over it, things change. For all we know they are building another parade as we speak. No one knows the way TDO is.

And once WE find out what can be done, what do WE do with that information. You talk as if WE are all going to stand outside the offices with pitchforks forcing Disney to do it differently. Then, of course, once WE get tired of yelling for justice and results, WE drop our pitchforks and run to the ticket booth and buy our next round of tickets to go to the parks. Then THEY grab OUR money and use it to buy sun bonnets for their racing ponies. Stop acting like we have any right to tell them how to run the place, when we can't even really get upset enough to put OUR money where OUR mouth is! Contrary to what your mother might have told you, you do not have power to control everything on the planet.

I don't know what you might do, but I would absorb and digest the information to be better informed. Stop telling people what to do. You have no power here. Now begone before someone drops a house on you.

The story that I heard was that due to the space occupied by Festival of Fantasy, the Spectro floats were moved outside where they basically rotted. If Spectro were to ever have returned, it would have only been specific floats that survived, or new recreations of floats would have been built. Given the choice between the two possibilities, Disney chose to retire the parade.

The story I heard was that it was going to cost Disney too much money to bring the parade to show standards. So it was thrown out.

This myth of "Rotting" is exactly that, a myth. It was a budgetary decision.

I sure hope some of them make it to the Main Street Electrical parade. If Chernobog survived they could play an electronic version of night on bald hill to baroque hoedown. I also thing the symphony units survived, that also would make a great addition if they could tweak the music.

None survived. The entire parade was thrown out.

OK, just as soon as you tell me how it is any of your business what people/companies do with their own property. All you have to know is that it isn't there anymore and/or just accept what you have been told by all the experts here and decide that is all the information you will ever need or be entitled too. Besides, I didn't just recommend a course of action, I also asked a few questions that still remain unanswered.

Also, the Irony of you telling me not to tell you something did not escape my attention. Could be a big house and it might drop on both of us.

If they could afford to refurb Spectromagic in 1999-2001, why couldn't they afford to do that now? We're they not able to, or just not willing to spend the money needed to bring it up to show standards?

Quite often it is not a matter of affording it, it is a matter of it being the financially responsible thing to do. Depending on what, where and how extensive the damage is, it can bee less expensive and better overall to just start from scratch.

To be honest, the Electrical Parade is really starting to grow on me, plus I was 9 when I first saw it in Disney World so I have some nalstalgia with that one to. But they really need to revamp it and and change out the underlined thruout the parade a bit because it can really get annoying. And if there going to use the Tokyo Disneyland soundtrack use the whole soundtrack, that electronic music is overkill, the old music was great but it sounds so digital now. The unit music was improved greatly but the underlined is awful.
