Took us 18 hours from NJ with 4 adults and a 2 year old in our minivan. I think we are gonig to fly this spring since we now also have a 6 month old.

All I can say is thank goodness for portable DVD players!

I have seen Alaska tags before in the MK parking lot.

Gotcha beat... BMW 730i, Lotus Esprit, Ford Mondeo, and a Chrysler Caravan with UK plates, Chrysler Caravan with Dutch Plates, VW Van with French Plates, and a surprisingly large number of German tags (that are on the back of the car). I also saw the freaky BMW with South African plates.

Then the mexican estados, and Guatemala. I've seen some of the Caribbean as well... Puerto Rico, USVI, Nassau Bahamas, and Cayman Islands. Not to mention also every canadian province, and most territories. Also, Guam and Hawaii.

Then again, I'm the type of dork that notices these things.

wow...my little 2 day drive seems like nothing compared to some of these trips. then again..i tend to fly now. 2 days, or a 2 hr flight.....hmmm....tough choice. :D

although i love seeing all the crazy stuff when you drive down i-95, especially once you enter FL. not to mention seeing the first billboard for Disney

My father used to drive 30 hours non-stop from Quebec City, in Canada. I've always been thankful that even if we werent the richest, we had the chanec to go to Walt Disney World when I was a kid, and thats all due to sacrifices my parents made, like this one :)

My trip from WI with two drivers took about 25 hours (straight through) when all was said and done(getting lost for 3 hours didn't help). And I drove all but four of those. The actual trip uninterupted by missed exits takes closer to 22 hours. And to be honest, I'd do it that way every time if I can. The drive down is magical in itself. I just wish I was closer. Miss it so much!!! I'd go every year if I could scrape the funds together, but money's tight.

We always fly, however ended up driving it in September b/c our flight was cancelled due to Hurricaine Frances. It was 26 hours straight with stops for gas and to pick up some snacks. Everyone said we were nuts, voluntarily driving into a hurricaine, but what can we say.....come hell or high water we were going to go on our vacation!

Now that I think about it, I belive I did see a Hawaiien tag before at DTD, it was like a ranbow or something.

But I have never seen any european cars running around WDW, that is just crazy. But I walk around the parking lot checking out tags too.

Doesn't necessarily mean they drove from Alaska. They might have recently moved or something. When we moved to North Carolina it was about 4 years before we finally got around to exchanging our New York plates for North Carolina plates. Most of my town is the same way. Driving 2 miles to walmart I usually see plates from about 20 different states just because everyone is still using plates from their home state. Actually, I still have a New York driver's license and I've lived in NC for 5 1/2 years!

My wife and I drove 25 1/2 hoursd straight through from upstate NY to Disney in December 2002. The journey was long but well worth the effort. We're now living in St. Louis and travelling to Disney in February. Can't wait!!!!

try 4 days of 14+ hour driving from Anaheim, CA. to WDW.

I thought we had driven a long ways from OKC. It takes us a little over 21 hours to get to WDW. The drive there isn't bad at all. It is the drive home that stinks. You realize every minute of the drive that you are driving further & further away from the happiest place on earth and it is miserable.

However, we have 3 children under 3 right now, so we will not be making that drive again in the near future. Flying is so much more convenient for us.

my family always flies, but the family we always go with drive...from NEW YORK! not sure exaclty how long it takes, but its close to 2 days with the breaks to keep the 3 kids (two teenage girls less than 2 years apart) from ripping their hair out....all because their dad's afraid of flying....just makes me happy to be on a plane

Don't know where in NY your friends are but it takes us about 22 hours or so.

Tried driving thru once... never again!

Well depending on how many stops 14 hours from Houston. But I can make it there a little sooner if there are not that many stops.

In April we drove straight through from our house near Minneapolis. We started at about 6 pm and got to Orlando at about 8 pm the next day. I will never do it again non stop, but I liked driving. Have you ever been to Metropolis, IL - home of Superman? I wouldn't have if we didn't drive.

Last April we drove from Washington State to help our daughters move to go work at WDW. It took us 63 hours, with one overnight stop in Goodland, KS. It would have gone more quickly, but a spring blizzard in Wyoming slowed us down to a crawl for about half a day. :hammer:

My wife and daughters also drove back in 2002, when our youngest began her college program. They had a couple of overnight stops with friends on that trip. Our two daughters also drove in 2003 (when our oldest daughter began HER college program), but they made a long road trip out of it, taking a couple of weeks and visiting Yellowstone, Chicago, Toronto, New England, Boston, NYC, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., etc.

Having driven and flown from this corner of the US to the other, I can tell you that flying is much better! However, the drive was a great adventure, and I don't regret doing it. I just don't know that I'd ever want to do it again! :D

About 22 hours from Michigan for me. We drive it at least once a year. Everytime I say were going to fly the next time but never do.
