What's the benefit of advance check in?

Okay, so I can check in 10 days prior to my trip. But other than just the excitement of it all, what's the real benefit to doing this?

When it comes to room assignment day, do they give those who've checked in better rooms? Is it just seemingly faster when you actually get there? Or is it all just hype?

I'm curious about this too. I'm doing a DVC rental, but not sure if I would be able to use the standard "check-in" form on the disneyworld.com site.

Guess I'll find out on Sept 17th!

I logged onto my DVC member site and I looked around. I do not see anywhere I can do advanced check in and I believe the confirmation #'s do not work on the Disney site. I will look into it more.

Ok, I could not help myself, I called DVC members services. The response I go it is the check in link will not be visable on our log in till 10 days prior to the arrival. If you want to red about it, log into DVC then at the top, click on News, the drop down click on "whats new" then half way down the list you will see a link referecing online check in, it will give you all the details.

On another note the CMsaid well you are not arriving till Nov. why are you asking now. I told her that I am crazy & I just need to know.:ROFLOL: She said thank you and if there was nothing else to have a magical day.

If you are getting an AP discount, do they just ask for your card at check in even if you check in online?

You have to show it when you get there. I can't say enough good things about it, it was great. DH went to the bathroom, and I was done checking in before he even found it!

The only time that I ever had a problem was when we arrived at 11pm and there were more people in the online check in line than in the normal line. Online check in, most of the time, only has one person working it and if the person that used it has a million questions you may find yourself there longer than desired. In that case I just got out of that line and went to the normal check in line and got my packet and went on my way.

I used advance check-in for our DVC reservations at Kidani Village on June 28. The resort didn't yet have a separate line, so I asked a CM who was talking with people in line at the front desk. He immediately went behind the desk and got our packet. Much to my surprise, our room was ready! I don't know if it had anything to do with advance check-in (supposedly, it shouldn't), but there were a lot of people sitting in the lobby waiting for their rooms and we walked right into ours.

Can you select who will have charging privlages using online check in or do you need to still set that up when you arrive?

Ours was ready on arrival too, and it was 9 am!
