What's on Western Way?

We always come in off I-75 and take the turnpike down to I-4 for the final stretch to WDW. The thought entered my mind of possibly taking the Western Beltway this time around just to try something new, but I'm not sure if I'm going to or not. One thing I enjoy about taking I-4, is that I know we are pretty much there as we drive down I-4 and see Sea World, Universal (or at least the signs and billboards all over the place) and all the cool hotels, etc. Is there anything to see off the Western Beltway (is it 429?)? Is there a bunch of sights and signs and such? Or is it as desolate as it looks like on the map?

We also love taking Western Way when we are coming in from the North after visting grandparents. I remember the first time we came down that way, it was at night time and we didnt tell the 3 kids that we were going to WDW. It was so funny our oldest I believe he was 11 or 12 at that time said I think i see the castle and Contemporary, my wife and I laughed and said he must be tired and seeing things because we are not going to WDW. All the kids were bummed out until they saw the BIG WDW signs on Western Way. That was a great way to go, very quick and peaceful. I would definaltly reccommend taking that way at least once!!

I avoid I-4 if at all possible. The only time I will use it is if we are heading to Universal/Sea World. I love the Western Way portion of the drive to WDW. It is relaxing, and has zero traffic. As others have said, keep your speed in check. Cruise control is your friend!

You might want to consider Palm Parkway, which I mentioned in my earlier post. It starts one block north of the Hotel Plaza Blvd intersection by Crossroads, and goes right past Universal property. (You turn right onto Hollywood Way, and drive past the Royal Pacific)

Halfway to Universal there's a turn for the Central Florida Parkway, which brings you to Sea World.

Thanks! I'll keep that in mind for our next trip!
