Part two was planned. They were planning, or are planning on expanding Hollywood Land and and there were some other things they were going to do.

Most of what WDI plans never happens. That's is their job, to polish ideas, come up with new ones, so when the funding comes around, they have a head start. DCA 2.0 was unprecedented, IMHO, in terms of drastic changes at a park, they are certainly pleased with the results, but it still costed around $1.2 billion, and they want to let it spin for a while to make a good chunk of this money back, no?

I guess its a semantics difference, stuff which is:

1. "Planned" by WDI, but not given the green light, and hence might never happen.
2. Plans that haven't been pitched yet.
3. Plans that might never be pitched.
4. Plans leaked to fans on purpose.
5. Plans whereby the construction guys are hired, have their bulldozers ready to go and a suit runs out and stops them. (Rare)

I remember Al Lutz said that the Nemo Subs were possibly on the chopping block, then they announced Nemo 2 shortly thereafter. Sometimes the insiders report plans which aren't even feasible/popular inside the company and have no hope of fruition.

Sure, things happen and plans get canceled. At the same time, that doesn't mean the plans weren't intentional.

So somebody in the top brass approved a plan and then changed their mind? I doubt that this has happened for the number of projects supposedly "planned" and then mysteriously halted at the last moment. More likely a pitched idea, a pipe dream, or some combination is simply lingering in development purgatory . . . like most of the ideas WDI comes up with.

Oh, and the top brass already said no new big projects 2013 stateside, with an exception for Avatarland.

I guess I'm still an optimist. When I read a thread like this, and see just how wrong some people are; I still hope that they'll be pleasantly surprised when the truth comes out.

All sorts of options are evaluated for DLR, in an ongoing process. Carsland was a big hit, so no doubt they started looking at ways to build on that success, but that certainly doesn't mean it was planned. Remember, they cut the budget for DCA 2.0 to about 1.1 billion . . . kinda doesn't make a lot of sense to say that they're cutting DCA 1.0, but still plan on piling on hundreds of millions more into something else. They did spend some $ spiffing up Paradise Pier, but DCA 3.0 is a theoretical.

There have been a lot of rumors over the past year from the "insiders":

1. Iron Man at DL's Innoventions. Didn't happen.
2. Carsland coming to DHS. Hasn't happened yet even though the insiders said that the bulldozers would be going within months, never mind logistical problems at DHS.
3. Main Street alley in DL. Hasn't happened yet.
4. Third gate at DLR, yeah they've had those rumors for over a decade. Hasn't happened.
5. Monsters Inc. coaster coming right away to DHS. Hasn't happened.

So then you admit you were wrong by saying it was "speculation made up by people on the boards" then? Because that's what you said and that's what I was replying to. It wasn't made up. There were plans for a second phase of the DCA expansion.

Well for me I'd love to see that Wonderland concept take up that Speedway. Or as a constolation prize, re theme that ride to Wreck It Ralph/Sugar Rush Racers which would better execute the transition from TL into FL. But won't happen. But like @Ignohippo said, after the SDMT opens, that's all she wrote.
I'll point out that I had the same Sugar Rush idea in my Villains Park concept... haha. I'm not accusing you of appropriating it (it's a natural idea) I just mean to say that it's inherently awesome and NEEDS to happen.

They better have a Turbo section!

No, that's not what I said, I said, "DCA 3.0, or a phase "2", after Carsland opened was pretty much just pure fan speculation given that they spent around $1.1 billion on BVS/Carsland. Major investments that they no doubt want to see an return on investment."

I was saying that Disney greenlighting DCA 3.0 right after Carsland opened was fan generated, the current plans are to rake in tons of $$$ as Carsland has become a success. The goal of Carsland was to make money, not to just please diehard fans, per se.

I love how you keep making our points for us.

If the DTD expansion isn't a "big project", then I don't know what would be.

Should have added the qualifier of no new big projects in the parks, though I'm not sure how much this project will cost, sure won't be Carsland, Avatarland (may it never see the light of day), FLE. The brass was clearly talking about in-park additions, if you want to get excited about the refurbishment of an outdoor mall, then by all means do so.

Two new parking garages, a couple new restaurants and shops (which generate money for Disney in connection with "sponsors") . . . and wait for it . . . waterways! . . . weee!

Is it that easy to get eastcoast Disney fans excited?!

I couldnt agree more re theming it to sugar rush would be awesome and if they could even have it to where your cars go through a show building with AA's of Cy bugs and turbo or maybe they could even have turbo as a racer much like they wanna do with luigi over at luigi's flying tires at DCA That would be awesome. They could do ralph and venelope how awesome would it be to see peoples faces when they see the characters from the movie breeze by them on the track?
