Did they already spend the $1.3 billion? Or would a Phase 2 have a new budget on top of the $1.3 billion?Princess M & G in May, then SWMT next year and that's all she wrote.
Yes, CL was the end of Phase 1 of the DCA rebirth. There are rumors of a Phase 2 but I've never seen details of what that would consist of or a timetable. Personally, I'd bet they ride the influx of business from CL for a while. From many accounts, the attention now is on a third gate for Aneheim.

Also, comparing the DCA work and FLE, I see that both were less than perfect when they were starting construction. FLE, thanks to Tom Staggs, did a mid-course correction - as we all know. Better heads prevailed at the later stages of both projects, thankfully. This to me is a sign of better things to come, from this point forward.
May opening for Princess Fairytale Hall??? Is that something you know or something you are speculating on?
I haven't seen a date posted anywhere. Official Disney has only said 2013 as far as I know and have not expanded on when in 2013 that will actually be.
I know a lot of people have been wondering about an opening date or timeframe, as it is very difficult to know where they are in the progress because it is all inside. Also with the opening of Princess Fairytale Faire at DL it has been a topic of dicussion on people's minds lately.

I can't ever remember seeing anything besides a generic "2013." There have been a number of threads on the subject of an opening date and yet I haven't seen anyone post a date.As far as I remember, that has always been the target date since day one. Until you hear it from TDO, I guess it's speculation. Whatever date they say though,it seems everything in this expansion has actually been completed a month early almost every time.

Do you remember where you remember seeing May 2013 from? Not questioning you at all. More that I am very interested in this part of the project, because as this thread says, there isn't much left to the New Fantasyland project, there has been little information about this part of the project, and my kids are very excited about this and I am hoping for them it is open by the time we go in mid-August.
Didn't the one at DL go into an empty space vs. the one at WDW requiring a complete demo on a full attraction first? On a side note, didn't the construction of the MK Princess M&G begin months before the DL one? Yet, Fantasy Faire at DL (with M&G and theater) is already open! Really makes you go hmmm, doesn't it? TDO's business of opening this expansion in stages is a joke. I hope it bites them in the butt. Had they opened everything at once, the publicity probably would have given them a much better influx at the front gate. Serves them right.
Thanks for the response and I hope you are right about the opening time frame. There's no way it won't be done by August. Total speculation of course, but I can't imagine they wouldn't want it online before the Summer season begins.
Nope, can't remember where I heard May. So sorry, but I'm entirely too lazy (and don't care enough) to search for it.

Demo is generally the quickest part of any construction process, though, especially if you're not planning to salvage the majority.Didn't the one at DL go into an empty space vs. the one at WDW requiring a complete demo on a full attraction first?
I will agree with this 100%. When we walked into NF last week my first view was of the new castle walls (we walked through Cindy's castle) and I was struck by how beautiful it was from that vantage point. Unfortunately we got a few feet further and the big brown walls around the mine train came into view and from then on the view was shot. Everything to our left was absolutely beautiful but to our right, the entire time we walked from one end to the other, were the big brown ugly walls, a crane and construction workers/equipment. It has the potential to be awesome once all that is done but it is so hard to look past right now. I'm so looking forward to going again once it's complete.I have heard from many that then New Fantasyland, while very pretty, is so disappoonting because it feels like you are still in a construction zone. It will be nice to finally get all the walls down next year. It seems like fare to long it has be the Magic Walled Kingdom. It would have been much better to finish everything is one project instead of this phased plan. If they want to continue to reveal things over time, do a project in another park and then open that, then move to another park.... They will keep people coming back more than one or two new attractions slowly opened.
But still, if you are building two things, one into a space that doesn't require demo and one into a space that does, the one requiring demo would theoretically take a bit longer wouldn't you say?Demo is generally the quickest part of any construction process, though, especially if you're not planning to salvage the majority.
Not sure how much they kept from SWSA, but I would imagine not that much.
I work for a new home builder. Occasionally we buy a "tear down" - a piece of crap house on an exceptional lot - which we demo and then build a 5000 sq. ft. home. But still, if you are building two things, one into a space that doesn't require demo and one into a space that does, the one requiring demo would theoretically take a bit longer wouldn't you say?
Ok... but that's a complete top down demo right? Not meaning to push the point but I'd think having to work within an existing structure, demolishing what's inside it without damaging certain spaces, having to work within the constraints of only having one entrance/exit to the building and having cast members etc. to be wary of backstage, blah blah blah... probably takes a little longer right? I honestly don't know so I'm not trying to be a smart alec. I just know that knocking down my house wouldn't take long but completely redoing every room inside would take a long time! Demo is done in less than 48 hours, including completely clearing the debris. Up to two weeks if we are salvaging the bricks and selling them as reclaimed.
Absolutely. I'm probably just continuing the conversation because I am killing time waiting for the new pope to emerge.Ok... but that's a complete top down demo right? Oh yeah... I totally don't disagree with that! I am just trying to cover the comment re: the one in DL being open already vs. the one here still needing more time. LOLThat being said, the WDW conversion is taking an inordinate amount of time - just like most other projects in the past few years.
