There are no rooms available at any of the value resorts and most of the moderates. If there is some sort of a cheer-leading thing going on I want to avoid that

The free dining promotion begins on August 15th. I'm sure that people are going early so they will not have to take their children out of school if they go later.

Yes, I think the only cheering going on will be for the free food.

No theres no cheerleading thing going on,its the free dining, i dont know which value resort would be of your prefrence, but i checked the 20th-until and sports was avaliable, that was without the free dining though, so it wouldnt make any sense to book that without it, unless you dont mind. And as far as it being busy DDPGambit it shouldnt be all that busy, alot of that is decieving, it just means alot of people are checking in on the days that are not avaliable, and keep in mind due to the economy alot of the deluxe and deluxe villa regulars are sacraficing this year and staying at a value or moderate resort, and on top of that the locals make up a bulk of the attendance , and they'll be back in school. Me and my family will be there from the 13th-23rd so we should be good, im more concern about the heat more so the crowds lol

This is somewhat anecdotal, but Touring plans' crowd calendar shows a 7 and an 8 respectively for the 18th and 19th.
Larry, were you checking availability online or did you call Disney? If it's the former, it is a possibility that the site is messed up...which is hard to believe, I know!

Also, remember that if you are looking at a trip and the resort is sold out for even one day in your range, then it will come back as sold out througout. The beginning of your trip is the end of the summer season and combined with the start of free dining. This is going to make that week more crowded than normal which is probably causing your sold out problems. If you need to look into value or moderate resorts, I would look at making separate reservations and seeing if that helps with the sold out issue.

Yep, checked them all. All have no availability. So when I look up Aug 14 thru checking out on the 18th I get different prices at all the different sites including Disney. All Star Music shows $325 dollars at Travelocity to $486 at the Disney web site for 4 nights. This kind of makes me wonder if the Travelocity price is valid. I would hate to book it and find out later there has been some “Big Mistake”.
