What's Disneyland Paris like?

I've never been to Disneyland Paris. I want to know what it's like. Everything is probably in French. Oh well. Merci, mon amis!

Disneyland Paris is amazing! Their MK is by far the most beautiful and while you'd think everything was in French, a great deal of it was actually in English. Their versions of many of the attractions have new "twists -- Space Mountain is an indoor looping coaster, Big Thunder Mountain is on an island and you ridethrough a tunnel under water to get their and back. I absolutely love it there!

We're headed to the parks for four days the first week of June -- when I come back I'll post a trip report!

DLP has the best "Magic Kingdom" as it were. As it is newer than WDW it is nicer. It has all the good rides that MK has, but obviously newer. Discoveryland (Tomorrowland) doesnt look as dated, they dont have big wastes of space like 20,000 lagoon, Sky Way stations, and they dont have boring rides like Jungle Cruise. Main Street is nice as it is block pathed (nice touch) and Space Muntain is better. It doesnt have the rides that some people may find boring e.g. TTA and CoP. I'm going to DLP either in Autumn or Spring next year :) The down side of DLP is it doesnt have the rest of the resort, and the hotels are not as good and well themed!

OH my gosh. I totally disagree with you here!

I think Disney Village is awesome -- great clubs, restaurants and shopping. Smaller than Downtown Disney in Florida, it's still got a lot of charm and great fun. They have Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show as their Hoop-Dee-Do. DLP has it's own golf couse, and ice skating at the Hotel New York during colder months.

I think the hotels are amazing. Sequoia Lodge, with the big fireplace lounge area and the beautiful rooms with a very American National Park feel, like the Wilderness Lodge. Newport Bay is very much like the Yacht Club. The Disneyland Paris Hotel is just beautiful, very much like the Grand Floridian, but with beautiful views up Main Street. The Hotel New York is like nothing we have in Florida -- very modern and, for lack of a better phrase, Michael Graves-ish (Dolphin, Swan but with a New York flare). I haven't been to the less expensive hotels -- no time on our last trip -- but the pictures look great there too! The pools are amazing and the hotels all have shops and restaurants.

The only thing missing for me at DLP is a waterpark -- but I think that'll come in time -- and with Paris 40 minutes away, I can skip a day at the waterpark. Not sure what else you could possibly be looking for, but it seems to me they have almost everything you could want, just on a smaller scale.

I agree with married@WDW. The Disneyland Resort Paris is fantastic. Ok it may not be as big as wdw, but it still has its good points.

The hotels are so well designed, with the Sequia being my favourite. And everything is so close, no annoying bus rides as the parks are only a short walk away.

The only let down is the Hotel Santa Fe it is the most disgusting hotel that i have ever seen, whoever let disney build that eyesore should be sacked!

I think the castle is the most pretty of the three I have seen (WDW, DLCA, DLP) and I love the dragon under the castle. TMR and SM are the best here (that said, I do think the older versions are better suited to young kids and will be sad to see them updated). The merry-go-round is very pretty, my fav. Story book boats are better than at DLCA (WDW doesn't even have). IASW's facade is better than WDW (but not quite as good as DLCA). Can't compare the raceway cars because on our three trips in the last two years they have not been open for us :(.

I do however miss there not being a monorail, the fact that the characters are scarce (very crowded in Feb. and yet Mickey was only available for two hrs 9-11 am for the entire day (a Sun)! We didn't realize that so my kids did not see him that trip) and no toon town. Their backwards Indy rollercoaster is a poor sub. for the wonderful Indy ride at DLCA, we didn't even bother to ride it our last two trips. No Wild Toad or Winnie the Pooh.

Very worthwhile doing. I like getting to compare the parks. DLCA will always be my first love as that is my childhood park. Happy planning.

OOPs!

My post was alittle unclear.....

I will be sad to see the older SM's updated, love the new version of TM but I don't believe they plan on updating the other TM's.

Once you click on the link you will need to click onto New trip reports for Spring/summer 2002 and then onto my DLP one day report by strawberryblonde. Thanks again....

I went to disneyland Paris in Nov. of 1998. It was very differnet from disney world. Much smaller, only a few hotels. Everything that is spoken is first in french then in English. I'ts definately not all in french. The rides are quite similiar. It's worth going to though. I love saying I was in Disneyland Paris :)
