Some will tell you it is a huge arcade...that does not do it justice. It's 5 stories high and has different areas (like MK). They have games based on park rides, and totally original things. They do have regular arcade games, as well. The entire top story is a cafe with computers and bakery items. It is one of the most fun places in WDW to me, right after the parks. LOL! I would defidently suggest doing it.Also, get the Park Hopper PLUS option on your ticketsand you don't have to worry about admission costs.

I'm also going to be going to Disney Quest for the first time soon -- in September. How many hours do you schedule for it? I was thinking the best thing to do is to go to another Plus option -- Blizzard Beach for half a day (till 2pm) and then change and head over to Disney Quest for the afternoon/evening.

Have a great time, I'm sure you will. I would say about half a day would be about right. I'm not sure how long it's open though. Also, DTD looks so beauliful at night, so that'll be an extra treat for you. You can probably check the hours on the link on my first post.

It's more like a little mini-indoor theme park.

First floor has Pirates of Caribbean ride, in which you shoot at pirate ships and get points and get their gold. also Virtual Jungle Cruise, in which you row a course through whitewater rapids and avoid dinosaurs etc. You get sprinkled.

Next floor you can ride Aladdin's magic carpet, a virtual reality thing in which you wear a heavy three-d helmet and navigate through a maze. Also you'll find CyberSpace Mountain, in which you design a roller coaster and then ride it in simulator that has full 360 degree motion. You can get up to 13 loops, if you are so inclined.

As mentioned above, there's a floor or two of classic video games, Pac Man, etc. no charge for these. There's also Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blasters, bumper cars in which you also get a cannon to shoot soccer balls at the other drivers.

Mighty Ducks Pinball Slam in which you stand on a platform and try to guide your 'man' through a pinball game, racking up points.

Next floor up you'll find Ride the Comix (actually on 4 and 5.) Again, you're in the heavy, virtual reality helmets, this time with a light saber battling various evil dooers.

And Alien Invasion, in which four-man teams guide a space vehicle on a rescue mission to an Earth colony under attack. Driver gets point for rescuing colonists. Everyone else gets points for shooting the bad guys.

There's also a Cheesecake Factory with yummy deserts, great burgers, other sandwichs, salads, pizza, etc.

All in all, we usually spend about 5 hours here. It doesn't usually open until late morning and is usually open till nearly midnight.

When visiting DisneyQuest, be sure to say hello to me. I may be loading you into one of the attractions there. :D

The only games that you have to pay for while at DisneyQuest are the games that give you tickets which can be redeemed for prizes. This is on the 4th floor in the Midway on the Moon section. 4th Floor is also home to the Wonderland Cafe(a place to buy cheesecake and other delicious desserts made by Cheesecake Factory Express) which also has internet terminals at some of the tables, Ride the Comix stations 2 and 4, and the sports themed arcade games.

5th floor, in addition to having FoodQuest(also run by Cheesecake Factory Express) which serves burgers, chicken, pizza, pasta, paninis, wraps and salads, it also has Ride the Comix stations 1 and 3 and Invasion! An ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter. Ride the Comix allows up to six players, working together to battle a bunch of comic book super villains based on actual Disney villains. The weapon used is a laser sword, located when you sit in a holster to your left. A VR visor connects to your "battle helmet" and you can see all the action through it. Invasion! allows up to four players to go on a rescue mission, sponsored by X-S Tech, to save colonists on a planet that is under attack by alien forces. One player is pilot and three are gunners.

If you have any further specific questions about DisneyQuest, please feel free to ask, I'll answer them as best as I can.

Edit: Also keep in mind the following height restrictions: CyberSpace Mountain and Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blasters - 51", Mighty Ducks Pinball Slam - 48"(though there is a special station that utilizes a joystick for younger guests that do not meet the height requirement or guests utilizing a wheelchair), Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle of Buccaneers Gold - 35"

My wife loves DQ. Everytime we go to WDW we have to spend at least 4 hours there. She would rather be at DQ then the parks. Though I do not get as excited for DQ as my wife, I do enjoy it. I love the elevator ride with genie when you first come in the building.

There's a section of midway-type games, Skee-Ball & games of chance, where you earn tickets for how well you do, and those tickets can be redeemed for prizes. But that is just one section of a pretty-large building. If there's an additional fee for any other game or attraction, I haven't seen it (which is not me trying to be glib. I'm entirely aware that I may have missed something important). The big virtual reality rides, and all the traditional arcade games, shouldn't have an extra charge.

One exception would be the virtual roller-coaster experience, whose name escapes me (Cyber Space Mountain?). It's free to design your own roller-coaster. It's free to ride a motion simulator that follows the track of the coaster you designed while you watch it on a giant screen that takes your entire field of vision. BUT, I believe you can pay extra to get a videotape of the coaster you designed, and your ride in the simulator, if you want.

Yes. Everything in the Create Zone(level 2) can be purcahed afterwards at the Guest Gallery located there. The CyberSpace Mountain videos can now be placed on DVD and can even be PAL encoded for our guests from overseas.

I'd say, Disney Quest may have been fun had we been able to do ANYTHING there! The place was an absolute zoo with lines 10 people deep just to do an arcade game. Forget about doing any of the above-mentioned games, etc. Maybe it was when we went, but for us, we were in and out of there after doing nothing.....not that it wouldn't have been a blast, just that it couldn't be with the number of people.

It's generally not that crowded in the afternoon/evening time. Most people are at the parks to catch fireworks and what not. Sorry you didn't have such a great time, you should try back during a less crowded time. Lines any time are inevitable, but shrink during less crowded times of day and year.

I'll be there July 12th to the 18th. When would be a good time to go to avoid the crowds? Early, mid-day, or late night?

I would try to go a little later in the day. Maybe catch an early dinner and then hit DQ. Most will be at the parks for fireworks, or at PI to party. Also, the crowd will be a little older and less hyper. Have a magical time!

Now that we have hit the summer months, there really will be crowds there. Capacity is somewhere around 2300 from what I was told, but usually we will shut down the entrance before reaching 2100. We actually had to do that the other day because there were groups coming in during the week. We ended up with two groups that took up over 1500 of our capacity alone. The only thing I can say is that if you come much later in the day, and I don't know the exact time this happens, then the admission price drops to $17.00 because you don't have as much time. But it has been remaining busy throughout the day and into the evening. I closed on Friday and we still had really good crowds. It was about a 30 minute wait at CyberSpace Mountain, for example, and I was working the Launch Bays there after 11:00PM with a 12:00 closing time. If you come early, it should be less crowded. The managers have been trying to open a little earlier than the normal start time of 11:30AM, if they can, but it hasn't been happening every day. And if we do have groups coming in, most will be there at 11:30AM sharp to come in. Some of the recent groups have been relatively small(less than 200) but like I said, we had two groups that took over half capacity and then a surprise group that took about another 250 spots that day, so it was just packed. The next time that we will be looking at not having massive crowds is likely to be September.
