I'm from Texas and I agree with you, but I would like to add I think we have hit our peak and it's getting better now (again).
I'll take your word for it, but from an outsiders perspective, I haven't seen much progress in making things better. I'll keep my fingers crossed. We in NC thought we had hit our peak as well, we were wrong, just not as wrong as some of the states.

We have a lot of hard-headed people here. (I'll leave it at that.) At least in my county, the numbers are improving. I just got an alert that we are "within the threshold to move to stage 3." We were in stage 5 not that long ago.

To be fair Texas might be a tad more vocal, but it is everywhere. I'm afraid that I usually can see both sides of any situation but frankly, the behavior of so many of U.S. citizens defies any explanation. I just hope it all goes away soon.

Pandemic because of all the people and things it affected. The amount of entertainment we missed and how it hurt so many folks. It was nice to vacation with less people around though. Genie doesn’t make me worried in the least. I can work around that.

The two have properly netted themselves out for me - the pandemic has delayed trips and made me desperate to just get out there so much so that I'll put up with the nickel and diming that is going on right now - which I'm sure is one of the things Disney is banking on at the moment 🙃.
Disney will be just fine for now so dont worry about them. When Slappie gave the earnings statement just a little while ago the Parks Division was already back in the Black. Which means if you dont know making money. This was prior to Genie+ announcement.

I really have no problem with the Reservation system. Now I would if it was telling me I could not get into MK during my entire trip. I can see the value in knowing where people will be for staffing concerns, its just what Disney thinks it needs in staffing isnt what is actually needed in most cases.

There are so many things that told me the current Disney management doesn’t value tradition and heritage and what makes Disney so special. But Epcot’s merchandise is what really drove it all home for me. It used to be a place where you could find such interesting gifts. Now it’s just t-shirts, t-shirts, t-shirts. The specialness has been drained out. Once I saw that, I started seeing similar betrayals everywhere in how things are run.

For me, every time you turn around, something else is costing more money. First overnight parking at a resort, next charging for Fastpass(Genie +), and now if you look up dining, @MK they have a pre-fireworks party, Fireworks party AND an After-fireworks party! All separate ticket events. Before and after $99 for adults and $59 for children 3-9, and during $114 for adults and $69 for children 3-9. When does madness stop?

Headed down in December to see for myself how I feel about all these new changes made to the overall experience but I have to say the Genie+ stuff was what finally killed the magic for me. Then those live streams this week rubbed dirt in the wound. I can't justify the price for the experiences being offered to other people, How am I going to fairly justifying it to myself? They have purposely removed what made them special and now have finally become the overpriced Six Flags I use to argue they weren't.

Neither for me as well. I'm disappointed in those who want Disneyworld to be a museum..but only at the time period they remember, nothing b fore, nothing afterwards. That's what Disneyland is for :)
I'm not sure that is really a mainstream point of view. I don't think anyone wants a museum. All most people want, is that if you replace or update or change something. That it be as good or better than what they had before. Disney doesn't have a great track record with improving, updates and replacements. Couple that with all the nickel and dime upcharges, and of course a lot of people long for an earlier time.

Disney has moved in a direction that does not correspond to the values of my kids and grand kids, the prices have become of questionable value as Genie is just another money grab among all of the others, and basically Disney has sadly lost the magic we enjoyed as a family of three generations

We have moved on and are finding other venues in which to spend our money. We are saddened by the loyalty we gave Disney and they have not shown the same loyalty to us.

What are they doing that doesn’t correspond to the values of your kids and grandkids?
