What You Do Before You Leave?

We normally drive down to Buffalo (from Hamilton, ON - about a 1 hour drive), and stay at the Sleep Inn next to the Buffalo airport for an early morning flight the next day. We love that hotel, not because it is 5 star or has lots of amenities (which it isn't/doesn't), but because it always represents the start of our trip to Disney.

I put our family on food lockdown -no weird or unusual meals or restaurants. Long story short I once ate questionable hamburger and had food poisoning on the day of departure! Lesson learned, we eat at our usual locales in the day or two before the trip!

Okay, sorry if this was posted before (most likely yes).

So i like to know, what you and the family do the day or night before you leave out on a Disney trip? Like go to your favorite restaurant or stay a night at a certain hotel? Do you drive straight in and head to parks?

No special ritual. We always fly, so the last night is usually a frenzy of packing and trying to figure out if we forgot anything, setting light timers, checking the windows, etc.

Night before leaving we pack the car, catch a little tv and bed. Up in the morning toss stuff in the cooler and leave by 7am. Eight hours on the road and a stopover in Santee, SC. Up the next morning and on the road by 6am. We enjoy a stop in Daytona Beach to check out the beach and stretch then back in the car for the final leg. Upon arrival, check in, unpack and off to Epcot. First ride is on Spaceship Earth and then see if Off Kilter is on that afternoon. At dark, leave the park and pick up something to eat and back to the room.

We don't get much sleep. I am already packed and ready to go! We watch a Disney movie or 2, or maybe even just the Disney Channel all day/night.;) If we drive, 14 hours, we leave about 11pm and drive straight through! Adrenaline rush!:D

We pack our items and always double check to make sure we have everything. In 2011, before we departed back to Syracuse, NY, we ate at Pizza Hut and went to WalMart to get another bag for our carry on items. After that, my brother flew out of Boston so we dropped him off at the Airport for his flight back to Boston. We looked for a mall before finally giving up and going back to the Airport. In 2012, we ate breakfast, packed, checked out and went to the BoardWalk for a bit. Then we went to the Orlando Premium Outlets on Vineland Ave and then headed for the Airport. My goal the next time is to through Security smoothly and not have them pull me over.

It's weird for me because the last day where there is always my favorite we usually either have a full blown every ride at Mk day or a Downtown Disney day where we do all of our shopping and Disney Quest.

If it's a trip longer than 2 nights, the final day we'll sleep in a little and have breakfast at the resort. Then go to Downtown Disney and look around a bit before heading home.

If it's a short trip, then we usually spend the morning that we're leaving in either DHS or AK because we can fit in our must-do attractions in those parks fairly easily in a couple of hours so that we can get on the road at a decent time.

I assume the question is, what do you do before you leave your home for Disney World. At least, that's what I interpreted the question was. Before leaving for my Disney trip, I always check to make sure all the things I need are packed in the suitcase and making sure stuff I'll need while travelling to Disney World is in my carry-on bag. (Music, books, snacks, etc, travel documents.). I always charge the necessary electronics I need to bring the night before so that they won't die out while travelling. I usually sleep a bit earlier so that I will be able to get up because I mean, the worst thing you want to do is to miss your flight or train because of oversleeping! The next morning, it's getting up, double check once more for anything else that needs to be packed, secure the home if applicable and head out, making sure I'm at the airport, station or whatever transportation hub maybe with enough time to do the necessary procedures before boarding my mode of transportation to Disney.

btw, here's a thread about well, roughly the opposite: http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/what-to-do-on-last-day.864628/

Do last minute packing: tooth brush, deo, shaving stuff, etc....
Then check to see if I have all my paperwork like Magical Express tickets and I always take a copy of my reservation paperwork.
Look in the suitcase and make sure I packed enough clothes.
Check paperwork again.
Recheck paperwork.
Try and get some sleep.
Get up and recheck suitcase and paperwork.
Leave for the airport.
Get to the airport
Recheck paperwork
Get on plane.

Finally relax when we are on Magical express

Before we leave the house to go TO Disney we eat dinner out- a pre-vacation meal. Go home, finish packing, have a couple of pre-vacation cocktails on the lanai and try to go to bed at a reasonable time. I usually wake up at 4 am because I AM SO EXCITED! So I get ready, unplug all small appliances, make breakfast and coffee and patiently wait for my peeps to wake up- then at 5, I wake them up- HURRY UP WE'RE LATE!!! :)

The night before we leave for Disney is usually spent packing and making sure we have everything we need with us. After that ,it's just trying to get some sleep as I am already very excited by that point.

The night we are leaving Disney is also spent packing and making sure that I got every single souvaneir that I absolutely had to have that I saw over the course of the trip. This is always after spending my final day/evening in the Magic Kingdom.

We live in Sc and get up at 4 to make the 6 1/2 drive so we can be at DTD around 1030/11 am so we typically g to bed early. Im a fanatic so Ill have everything I don't need (at home) packed about a month out! I normally go and get a pedicure the day before, make sure the 3 dogs and 2 cats have enough food, and everything is clean, normally do take out so that we can spend time with the kids (our Sept trips are our anniversary trip so we go alone) and then go to bed about 8pm.

Hubby will saying Im too excited to sleep (like that kids in that old commercial) then on the way when its my turn to drive he likes to scream out randomly (inbetween the countless Disney CD we play) OMG We are going Disney! He thinks its funny, (its really not) he did that on our honeymoon and I almost ran the car off the road..

We leave for the airport early in the morning, so we have a laid-back evening the night before. After the bags are packed and placed in the car, travel documents printed and lists double-checked, and the kids get a bath, we change into our PJs, order a pizza (and have to eat every bite, since we can't leave any leftovers), and camp out in front of the TV with the vacation planning DVD and a Disney movie. Everybody goes to bed early, with their travel clothes laid out and visions of Disney World dancing in their heads.

Watch the classic "We're too excited to sleep" commercial.
Finish packing.
Make sure I have enough killer sudoku puzzles to solve in my carry-on bag, and make sure my 3DS is in there as well.
Watch the classic "We're too excited to sleep" commercial.
Place my bags near the door ready for the ride down the street to the Amtrak station the next morning.
Watch the classic "We're too excited to sleep" commercial.
Try to get some sleep.

Realize I won't get much sleep because I really am too excited to sleep.
