What would you pack?

So if you were going to WDW for 7 days in the middle of July, what would you pack? Do you need extra pairs of clothing (i.e. shirts, socks, shorts etc.) Is there anything you have found that you absolutely needed and didn't have? What are your packing secrets?

I'm going in August and only plan to pack tanks and shorts. I may pack a t-shirt or 2 in case it rains. I know I can always do laundry if needed but I usually pack 1 set of clothes per day with a few extra shirts and socks. As others have said I too usually pack 2 sets of clothes per child per day. I even take a change of clothes for them to the parks, just in case.

I tend to be an overpacker as well, so I just want to send a quick beware to those that are. Airlines are starting to charge for more than one checked on bag now - $25 for the second bag. So just keep that in mind! The last time we went was in July and it was bloomin hot! In fact, I don't think I'll ever go that time of year again. Our misters were complete life savers - so I definitely suggest adding those!

As a native I would suggest if you have the room, and you are not going to do laundry, that you have two outfits per day, including undergarments and socks. When it's hot at Disney it's great to come back and take that mid/late afternoon shower after a day at the parks and change into new fresh clothing- it recharges you for the evening.

As another native, I second this statement  If you have comfortable sandals, I recommend them. Wearing socks adds a lot of warmth! And sunglasses are a must!

Also, I know it seems like common sense but it's very easy to forget: if you're planning on wearing tank tops, bring good sunscreen and apply it a LOT! I always see a lot of red shoulders down here and it can't be fun. I actually prefer wearing a light, loose fitting t-shirt to the parks because of that.

Then again, I'm so used to our lovely heat, I wear pants year round

My little secret that got me thru WDW last year...Avon sells a tired foot cream. I used it every nite before bed at WDW. I slathered it on my feet and all the way up my calves...the scent is strong but it did wonders!

adding to my post...I also pack a pop up laundry basket and picnic supplies for eating in the room. Plenty of ziploc bags in various sizes. If you have a young daughter don't forget your princess dresses. If you are doing post cards, pre-print your labels. Travel wipes are also a must have even if you do not have small children.

Bring extra shoes and clothes. You get really sweaty and want to change. I have found i like wearing long basketball shorts better instead of short denim shorts for the fact that they do not rub and are not near as hot.

At least 2 comfortable, well worn in pairs of shoes - trade off between pairs each day. (On a side note: I guess I'm the one person that didn't have much luck with crocs at Disney. They gave me the absolute worst blisters I have ever had on my feet after 1 day last year - made the rest of the vacation quite a challenge. I wear them all the time at home, it was only at the parks that I had this problem. I think the little nubs on the bottom of the crocs were the culprits.)

As far as clothes go, I only pack 1 outfit per day, with just 1 or 2 extra outfits. I find that changing clothes doesn't really help me much: once I step outside again into the heat, the new clothes are just as miserable as the old clothes within 5 minutes, so what's the point. And before anyone says it - I use a good deodorant, so no, I don't stink! And I bring lots of extra underwear, so that can at least be changed after mid-afternoon swims, etc.

Other necessary items: bug spray or wipes (don't always need it, but when you do, you REALLY need it!), moleskin for any blisters that pop up (see the note on the crocs above - this saved me last vacation!), camera/extra batteries/extra memory card/charger, pain reliever (advil, tylenol, etc.), allergy medicine, small bottle of dishwashing liquid (for reusable mugs).

And the most important thing - a credit card with a really high limit! :lookaroun That one will take care of anything else I forget!
