I never rode 20K either... dang ...

IMHO.....20K was the worst attraction in MK....if you were claustrophobic, if you were more than 10 years old, if you didn't take a bath, if you were more than 200 lbs or if you had bean dip for lunch, this attraction was not for you...

...and those floating plastic fish attached to string were 'real' authentic:rolleyes: ....the attraction was "CHEAP" even by ancient standards..

...don't get me wrong, the concept was good but this attraction could have been designed as a third grade science project...to me, this ride was tantamount to those little kiddie cars in your local carnivals that go in a circle....I would LOVE to see a high tech version....again, this is only my opinion, not worth the time to even contemplate and certainly not intended to raise the hairs on the back of the necks of it's faithful fans....:D

If atlantis did better..that would have been ideal to "upgrade" the lagoon..but alas...it was no lion king...

Reading all the posts...............would it kill them just to put ONE Nautilus in the lagoon for decoration??? So the lagoon could serve some purpose???

And then maybe something like have an Animatronic Kirk Douglas and Captain Nemo just fending off the giant squid all day!!!

I know it's pointless, it's a waste of money. That's the best I could come up with, cause I know that lagoon ain't going anywhere!

Now that's a good idea! IMO the best thing they could do. Never liked 20k, and I think kids enjoy it better as the Grotto. So, for the "old" fans, put some scene there! :sohappy:

Heading for the great escape.
The trouble with putting subs there is that it confirms exactly what it is, a broken down ride. But it gives guests the faulsr hope that one day it may be runing. As ive said before this ride was in this condition in 94 and I think it is a disgrace that it has been left to wither. Mind you where would we be without the charecter meet'n'greet.

I remember riding it once as a kid and it was terribly hot inside, and boring. We went to WDW at least 6 times in the 70's and I can only remember riding it once. It wasn't very good.

What would happen if they added 20K to another park like MGM. They could do it in the lagoon that already exists there. Or Epcot. The huge lagoon in the middle is only used to ferry people from one end of the park to the other. Even Animal Kingdom might be able to house it somewhere. It could showcase marine life. Wouldn't that be neat.;) Who uses the word "neat"? :veryconfu Anyways, I was just wonderin.

How could this ride fit into those parks? This is a fantasy ride. Having it in the other parks wouldn't make sense.

I have a feeling that 20K still could be operatable and maybe they are planning to open it when they rehab another major ride. That's what happened to Horizons when Test Track didn't open on time. Even though Horizons was in great distress and was scheduled to close even earlier, they openned it to keep guests happy on that side of Future World because Test Track was not open yet.

Just have a feeling about this one.

Fitting the ride into MGM- it was based on a movie wasn't it? Epcot: An older innovation?:slurp:
Animal Kingdom: show undersea life.

That would be really cool if they reopened it. I have one fond memory of that ride:

I was sitting on those fold up seats and I heard themn say something about sharks over the loudspeaker. I got up out of my seat and leaned to the window. Those sharks were the coolest to me back then. As they passed, my mom told me to sit down. I went to sit down and fell :brick: !Bang! on the floor because the seat had folded up. Oh the memories!
