What would be your splurge merch purchase if money was (sort of) no object?

I know this post was made in regards to Disneyworld, but over in CA there was $300 - $400 models of classic attractions like Haunted mansion and Main Street Train Station. I'd get all of them!

Also I do like those miniature light boxes with different scenes in them. I currently have the Jack Skellington one. He's giving a present to a child. The tree changes color and it's awfully pretty.

Mine would be any original signage that once was used in the parks or resorts. You can find some quality replicas out there - but if keeping in the spirit of the thread - I'd go original. Would love this hanging in my "man cave" (all of it or any part of it - including the entrance sign)

My first thought was how did you fund a whole trip on the Visa points??? I have one of those cards and I don't charge too much on it, but I recently charged my son's college classes. I was so happy I had enough rewards to buy 2 of those foam soap dispensers, a Haunted Mansion puzzle, and one Yeti type cup for my brother that has Yoda on it. That's it, but I was excited cause I got it all for "free!" 😂 I can't imaging saving enough to fund an entire trip, so I tip my hat to you!

To answer the question, I would probably splurge on some of the beautiful items I've seen at Arribas Bros. :) Adding, I am also not a person who buys a lot of "junk" type souvenirs.

In california adventure they have this store (and im sure they sell them in other stores as well) that sells the little disney lightboxes that have scenes from classic disney films. I like them a lot and theyre like 60+ a piece.

There was someone on eBay a few months ago that was selling what they "claimed" was a real road sign that listed the resorts...(purple, red & yellow)...He was asking $2500.00...I think I will have a sign guy recreate it on plexi, and hang it on my fence in the backyard.

It started smaller, several years ago. We would get maybe a free meal or something. As my business grew, I started using it for inventory purchases. That’s when I started writing TR’s as “two broke guys & a dog,” and each trip involved more points to offset being…not wealthy lol. We’d upgrade to a moderate resort or book a nicer dinner. Eventually, at our 10 year wedding anniversary, I decided to set a goal: if I could save up enough points to cover the whole thing, we’d enjoy Victoria & Albert’s that night. And we did it! (It was fantastic, but I still can’t comprehend spending that much in cash for one meal!)

This trip involves the most we’ve ever had - partly because business is way up and we’re spending a lot more on inventory - and partly because in the last two years, we’ve only been here for 2 nights.

So - points are covering this entire (short) trip - 3 nights in the cabins, park tickets, Boo Bash, and signature dining all the way.

For our next trick - we’ll take a Disney Cruise completely on points (as long as they don’t mess with the program in the meantime!) Plenty of time to save up, even if we stop back here again a time or two.

I’m very appreciative of this, and always remember when we used to eat at $10 BOGO buffets on 192. Gotta start somewhere!

So our first big splurge was: wait for it…valet parking at the Grand Floridian last night! It was raining, we were 2 minutes late for our last minute ADR at Citrico’s, and the price tag was a totally unreasonable $33. Never ever would I pay cash for that. (Honey, get the umbrella!) But they took points for it, including the $8 tip. Voila!

Haven’t had much shopping time yet. Two days and one morning to go!

If I could fit my hips in it, it would be the storm trooper outfit for sure! I would love to purchase all the boat rides and exclusive night time events for the fireworks shows and a night in Cinderella's castle!
