the fog machines behind the Pirate ship weren't working too well last time I was on it. but more than even usual would sure be nice. a handful of the figures need to be totally replaced. here's a partial listing of what is obvious:
- new sound system
- new Auctioneer figure
- new Pirate Captain figure (well and ship battle)
- figures in the Spanish fort in the ship battle
- shadow battle
- dueling pirates (somewhere)
personally, I think the shadows would go great between the well and auction scenes. there's a short hall that just kinda ends right there that'd be perfect.
I think there needs to be major resurfacing work done in the fire scene and the final treasure scene. far too much of this is obviously simply painted on and it won't cost too much to add 'actual' stone surfaces.
as you turn the corner past the beach and towards the storm / waterfall, there's a large sweep of an alcove next to you of open water (when I was small I always expected the sea serphent from 20k to pop up next to you there). It's a big open space in a ride that's WAY too abbreviated. you could pile a lot of pirate gold there and make a little miniature version of Disneyland's treasure room, complete with gold-peering skeleton. or, bar that, how about at least SOMETHING over there? a brand new skeleton scene? pieces of the shipwreck right around the corner?
I'd like to see the duelists right in the big vacant courtyard in the "chase" scene, which I think would be perfect.
how about some winking, blinking bat eyes in the "blackout" tunnel at the bottom of the drop, or even on the way down it?
and as much as I'd love to get X's full "talking skull" loop in WDW, it won't be possible. the area he's in is way too loud and the build-up to him is way too short. you'd lose the wonderful effect you have at Disneyland of the sound of the bayou gradually fading away as you travel into darkness, as the sinister sound of the skull's speech getting louder and closer...
but here's a quick suggestion: how about installing red lights in the skull's eyes and putting the black light he's wired into on a dimmer, so at first it's a disembodied voice, then suddenly we see red eyes glowing from the darkness, then the red fades and the skull "materializes" like a ghost?
or how about this: moving him so he's actually inside the black mouth of the cave in front of you, and doing the same effect there? booyah.
