Here's my guesses....

-- Latest gen AA figures replace the current 70's figures
-- Sword battle scene from Paris version
-- Digital sound
-- Refresh of all props and sets
-- Suddle tie-ins with the movies

Maybe they wll have it done on time for when PotC 2 is released in theaters!

Your guesditions?

NO tie in with the movies.

General rehab and adding things that are in the Disneyland version:

- alot more fog as you entire the ship battle scene
- improved sound of the cannons so they sound real, not air guns
- shadow fighting scene on top of the rock structure during the battle ship scene
- reworking of the final treasure room scene, as I was always bored with it and it was too far away to fully appreciate. Give me the DL version of barrels spilling water and pirates shooting across at each other as you go by

How about adding the 3.5 minutes that is missing from the Disneyland version. And how about adding the Blue Bayou.

After riding the Disneyland version 10 times in a week last year, I got spoiled. The WDW version is so lacking in comparision. I agree that the shadow fighting and fog would be good things to add.

I wouldn't expect huge changes...things would probably be similar to what IASW is getting. Updated lighting, sound, and general maintenance to the entire attraction. I don't think you are going to see huge changes to the actual show or animatronics.

How about losing any and all PC changes that were made the last time around. How about letting pirates chase women because well, they are pirates! :hammer:

As soon as IASW is finished

Is that the official word? According to something I read IASW is supposed to be done March 05. Are they going to be starting March 05 or wait a few months? Do we even have an official date yet?

the fog machines behind the Pirate ship weren't working too well last time I was on it. but more than even usual would sure be nice. a handful of the figures need to be totally replaced. here's a partial listing of what is obvious:

- new sound system
- new Auctioneer figure
- new Pirate Captain figure (well and ship battle)
- figures in the Spanish fort in the ship battle
- shadow battle
- dueling pirates (somewhere)

personally, I think the shadows would go great between the well and auction scenes. there's a short hall that just kinda ends right there that'd be perfect.

I think there needs to be major resurfacing work done in the fire scene and the final treasure scene. far too much of this is obviously simply painted on and it won't cost too much to add 'actual' stone surfaces.

as you turn the corner past the beach and towards the storm / waterfall, there's a large sweep of an alcove next to you of open water (when I was small I always expected the sea serphent from 20k to pop up next to you there). It's a big open space in a ride that's WAY too abbreviated. you could pile a lot of pirate gold there and make a little miniature version of Disneyland's treasure room, complete with gold-peering skeleton. or, bar that, how about at least SOMETHING over there? a brand new skeleton scene? pieces of the shipwreck right around the corner?

I'd like to see the duelists right in the big vacant courtyard in the "chase" scene, which I think would be perfect.

how about some winking, blinking bat eyes in the "blackout" tunnel at the bottom of the drop, or even on the way down it?

and as much as I'd love to get X's full "talking skull" loop in WDW, it won't be possible. the area he's in is way too loud and the build-up to him is way too short. you'd lose the wonderful effect you have at Disneyland of the sound of the bayou gradually fading away as you travel into darkness, as the sinister sound of the skull's speech getting louder and closer...

but here's a quick suggestion: how about installing red lights in the skull's eyes and putting the black light he's wired into on a dimmer, so at first it's a disembodied voice, then suddenly we see red eyes glowing from the darkness, then the red fades and the skull "materializes" like a ghost?

or how about this: moving him so he's actually inside the black mouth of the cave in front of you, and doing the same effect there? booyah. :D

Djali sounds like a member of the WED team! Lots of good ideas.

I think they need some more smells in the ride, buning buildings, gunpowder.

The sea smell I remember seems to be replaced by a mildew smell, which (if you have ever spent any time on a boat) is not a bad thing to set the mood but not very plesent anyway you cut it.

All of these suggestions sound great. The one that gets to me the most is the sound. It's sooo bad these days that you can barely make out anything except the Yo-ho refrain. :hammer:

I'd really like to see bigger splashes during the ship battle. It doesn't seem to make much sense. Big Cannon, itty bitty little splash. There also needs to be some cannon fire sound effect. The loud hiss just seems weird.

All of those ideas, plus updated AAs, Djali's ideas for the talking skull, ect. There is really something that has bothered me. Has anyone noticed the bad night time sky effect in the qeue line and boarding area? You can clearly tell is just a black cieling with light on the top of it. I think it should have the same good effect that DL's Blue Bayou lagoon should have. I also think that it should have a going up the water fall scene at the end instead of being let out right at the station immidiately. I just makes no scence when you end that way. I think they should add the going up the water fall scene to give more of an ending. What do you think?

Id like to see a scene at the begining where one pirateship is attacking another for the "right" to invade the town. And your boat is travelling right in the middle of the two. I also think arming the "tourist" boats with cannons would be a great idea.

It may be Old Timers, but I am sure that POC was different in the mid-70's and had fog, louder sounds, bigger splashes and the final scene was great with really loud shots and more AA. Am I wrong?

-Dueling Pirate scene
-MORE of anything in the caverns. They are the worst part of the ride.
-Some updated AAs. Not all of them have to bge updated, just some.
-Better Audio

During the Fire scene I have always wanted to be able to smell the fire like in Space Ship Earth during the collape of the Roman Empire scene. I love when they take advatage of all of your senses.

That's a great idea! I've never thought of that... Honestly, I did not know that PotC was going under rehab next year. How long will it be under rehab? As long as IASW? :( Well, if it needs the work, I don't blame them for working on it. It needs some "fixer-uppers." :animwink:
