I think Abercrombie makes some good apparel... albeit with a quality that doesn't match the price (And not in the good way... everything I've bought from abercrombie has lasted me less than a month).

I think people who limit themselves strictly to one clothing brand (like abercrombie) are funny though....

not in the funny "haha" sense.

More in the funny "special ed" sense.

Not a huge fan of it, but I don't hate it, I don't think I will ever buy anything there. I usually buy clothes at Old Navy, cause they are good clothes that you would find at AE or A&F for $30 but they sell it for around $15-20.
Just my opinion

aside from the fact that it's potentially illegal and not done in good taste, I would agree with you.

However... there are plenty of 18+ year old that look like they're 12 that I'm sure would LOVE a chance to be in an Abercrombie ad...

eh.. whatever.. lol.

I wear what I want... regardless of where it comes from.

Yeah, basicaly, if you shop at abercrombie, you're getting ripped off in many ways. Their clothes are extremely unoriginal, and couldn't be more overpriced. Although, the price issue rarely effects spoiled high school kids with rich parents.

The only people that can't see things this obvious are brainwashed, "I wanna be cool" kids. The same kids who think what they wear defines them as a person.

Eventually, these uneducated little people end up realizing how dumb they were about ten years later.

Unfortunately, for the time being, we have to sit around and listen to them talk about how AWESOME it is!

A&F...eh...

I used to wear it...and I'm not saying I wouldn't wear it now...but I wore it back in my late high school days more. I don't limit my tastes to one store...if I see something I like...I'll get it...I don't care if it's from Old Navy, American Eagle, Eddie Bauer, Banana Republic, Gap...etc.

I do have to say that I find myself shopping more and more at Banana Republic...it's pricey...but the quality is good, the clothing isn't "grunge" or "hip hop"...it's just my taste.

My aunt bought something at A&F for her daughter for Xmas...and gave her the bag...and the bag was a naked girl holding her "parts"....Now...I ask you...where is the clothing that they are trying to promote? Is it a pastey UNDER her hand???

I've been blessed with two children who don't buy into "brand clothing." My daughter is much more interested in getting a bargain, and frequents thrift stores and places like TJ Maxx. She can recognize good "brands" there, and is thrilled to find a gem among the rhinestones. She's also thrilled when she finds a great used/vintage piece at a thrift/resale store; like the Chanel skirt (circa late 60s) for $20. They don't make them like that anymore; the workmanship was incredible. She has her own sense of style which is not dependent on the latest trends. My son doesn't care what he wears. He would wear the same thing (and I do mean the SAME thing) every day if I let him. I suspect his big sister (whom he adores) won't let him get away with any herd mentality!
:sohappy:

I guess my last statement answered your question. IMO, people who only wear one brand of clothing lack imagination or are insecure. It's much easier/safer to dress like all of your friends than it is to think for yourself, or express your individuality at the risk of someone not approving.

That is not to say that most of us don't gravitate towards a specific brand, usually because the clothes fit well, look good, and are priced reasonably for what we're getting. I would certainly pay more for a classic coat than a pair of trendy capri pants, and would purchase whichever pair fits well for as little as possible, knowing that I won't be wearing them very long. A new coat should last for years.

I personally don't care for the clothes at A&F. Everytime my friends and I walk past there we make mention about how ugly and overpriced (for what they are) the clothes are. Then again, I don't care for the grunge look. Several years ago, they had some nice stuff. I even bought some, but not anymore.

I myself prefer Banana Republic (great quality, as Brian mentioned), Gap, Casual Corner, and Express.

You're ABSOLUTELY RIGHT.

This is what ALL Christians should wear! Especially Christian kids:

It's not like it's anything wrong with that. I'm SURE it doesn't promote people to dress like that. I mean, after all, kids DO shop there.

I call it "LE SKANK JUNIOR" - is that a fashionable title.

And I'm not even going to look up the adult ads ;).

I'm an old man. When I was young enough to give a ________ about what I looked like, guys who knew who made their clothes tended to get their heads dunked in the toilet a lot.

I don't like getting my head dunked in the toilet, so when I go clothes shopping, I go to the section that has my size, close my eyes and grab 5 or 6 shirts. Call it a vestigial conditioned response.

I happen to like Abercrombie and Fitch clothing, but just as many have said I too agree that their ads are very wrong.

I prefer Nautica, Tommy Hilfiger, Quicksilver, Sean John, Polo, South Pole, Banana Republic, Roca Wear, and American Eagle more than A&F, but I still buy A&F clothes whenever i'll see something I like.

I personaly do not like A&F. Once again it all comes down to the fact that they are discriminating anyone over a size six. They have some decent stuff there (mostly shirts). Some of my guy friends wear A&F and they look like EVERYONE else. I strive to look diffrent. I have my own style. And if you look at the kids here who wear A&F, Im nowhere preppy enough to even stand in that store.

Ummm, that's where you are wrong. Little girls have no reason to go showing cleavge off. When they do, it's only doing one thing. Sending a certain message to all the young boys out there.

Ads that show a child (and yes, until 18, they are kids), barely dressed are very wrong. Not to mention the message they send out to young girls -- That it's ok for them to "show their stuff". Kids see these ads and think it's "cool" to be like that. I was a teen once. I remember.

I have a 6 yr old daughter that I have a hard time buying clothes for. Everything is "teen" syled for her sizes. I want her to be trendy, but I don't buy her the tummy showing tops. When she's older, she will NOT be wearing cleavge showing tops. When she becomes an adult, she can wear what she wants.

I've never really cared for AnF, but their advertisements are awful. Once I found an advertisement where a bunch of guys and women decide to take off their swim suites and hang out naked on a beach. You even see a guy's bare bottom. It grossed me out. How do they expect people to buy their clothes when they're showing people that are naked in advertisements. It makes no sence.:veryconfu

OMG! That's horrible. What's the advertisement there? Seems to me they are saying "You are better off naked then wearing our stuff "

I like some of the clothes they sell - sometimes I´ve seen cool stuff, but when I checked the price, I immediately analyzed the garment and I thought it wasn´t worth spending that much.
I used to get the catalog, but mostly looked at it for the cute guys... hehe :animwink: If I find something I like there that has a good price, I would get it.

Now I don´t get the catalog or ads here in Mexico, but when I shop in the US, I go for quality and price no matter where or the brand. If I see something I like and the price is good, I get it, if not, I´ll let it pass. (For instance, this past trip, I bought some 10usd shirts at Rave that everybody compliments, and I loooove thinking I paid so little for them! :D)

I guess you really start pondering the "worthness" of something when you start earning your own money, otherwise is very easy to ask mom and dad for the "trendy" brand or the one "everybody wears"...

Another "old" person here (Gary I've got you beat by a few years :( )...Since A&F isn't geared to people of my advanced age I have no reason to go into the store nor do I save any catalog that might come my way. I'm raising daughters who thankfully believe in individuality and not in following the crowd (I'd like to think they got that from me since I really don't fit anyone's mold either.) I'm not saying that they aren't fashionable, but they buy for quality & comfort NOT for the name of the store printed across the chest (or other body parts). The clothes, IMHO, are not worth the money the are asking for them...the quality just isn't there. As daughter # 1 (Lil'mermaid) stated all of her friends look alike when wearing A&F...nice, but the same as everyone else. (but isn't that what teen life is all about?)

As far as their advertising practices, everyone knows that $ex sells...thats just a fact of life. Is it acceptable to gear it toward young teens? I don't think so, but thats my opinion. (and I wouldn't last a day in the ad biz)

I try to stay out of debates like these, but this one I just couldn't.

I do not shop at A&F. I do not like most of their clothes, and the clothes that I DO like, don't come in my size. Mind you, in any other store, I'd be a Large, but there, I'd need an XXL if not bigger. Their sizes are geared to people who are skinny and look like sticks. I am not fat, but I'm not a stick by any means.

Also, their clothes used to be somewhat appealing to me, but now they aren't. The clothes they are comming out with look like they have been dragged through mud and been worn out already. I personally would like to have new clothes that LOOK like new clothes. I would rather shop at Aeropostale, or Khols for that matter. Their clothes are not the best, because I personally cannot afford Banana Republic and the rest of those stores. The clothes are MUCH cheaper, BETTER quality, are SIZED right, and they don't promote children ography.

Oh, and let us also not forget. The company is being SUED because many employees are comming out to say that they were discriminated against. General Managers would walk through the stores, and tell the managers of the stores to cut certain people's hours because they were not cute/hot/appealing enough. This would make them quit, so the store could get new people to work for them that were hotter/cuter/more appealing. If I can't work there, then why the heck should I give their company money?

Just my opinion.
