What Type Of Fan Are You?

What type of WDW fan are you? There are many types, from casual to extreme. From observation all my life, I've divided them into 3 different categories:

The Theme Park/Coaster Enthusiast
You just love it all. From riding the tallest & fastest white-knuckle thrill ride to the slowest indoor dark ride...you just love anything theme park/amusement park/coaster related. Disney, Universal, Busch, Six Flags...you visit as many parks as often as you can. Your passion ranges from riding Cedar Point's Millennium Force as many times in a row, to knowing every lyric in every language of IASW. You're likely to attend coaster conventions & gatherings (A.C.E.). You like to check out any new attraction soon after it is unveiled. It's hard for you to pick a favorite destination or ride, as there are so many in so many genre's that stand out in your mind. From tame to wild, parks are just your thing.

The Traditional Disney Fan
I think most of us here will fall under this category.
While you know Disney isn't perfect, and there are good things about other park companies & locations, Disney has always been your favorite. You have many fond memories of Disney, and always feel at home when driving through the WDW gates. You don't know why, but a Disney vacation always feels right for you. While you respect that others like other places & parks, it is very hard for anywhere else to bring you the joy & magic the way a trip to WDW does. You feel like dancing when you arrive, you feel like crying when it's time to leave; Disney is your happy place...and that's all that matters.

The Extreme Disney Fan (a.k.a. Pixie Duster)
You love Disney for all the reasons a Traditional Disney Fan does, but the difference is, you find it hard imagining why someone would want to go somewhere other than a Disney destination. If a peer or family member does not appreciate Disney as much as you do, you get offended on the inside. If you encounter someone with a negative opinion of Disney, you assume it is because they planned improperly, had a bad outlook, or did something themselves to not enjoy the place. It is very difficult for you to accept that it just may not be for everyone. You are quick to think badly of other park's creations (WWOHP), and see them as 2nd rate despite how spectacular they may be. Disney is your happy place...and it should be everybody else's.

So which one best describes you & why? (Be honest. This is just for fun).

I'm honestly a mixture of all 3. I cannot imagine vacationing anywhere but Disney! But I wouldn't mind going to other Theme Parks, I also love Sea World and Universal! But if someone disses Disney, I am automatically offended and defend it in any way!

I think you may need one more category there - perhaps The Mildly to Moderately Disappointed Disney fan who remembers how good it once was and yearns for the return of those simpler days. They haven't totally abandoned Disney, but are willing to expand their loyalties to "other" parks too.

The Nostalgic Fan. :D That would certainly be me. My fondest memories of Disney are from yesteryear: The beautiful SSE ending from the Jeremy Irons version, what Epcot used to be. The pre-NextGen & interactive games era of storytelling through rides & ambiance. It's the classics that bring me back. When I look forward to MK...it's usually rides like HM, POTC, Splash, Space that I am thinking of, not the Sorcerer's Card game, interactive queue games, etc. It's the nostalgia that stands out the most. Good point, Nemo.

Of the three categories in the OP, I'd fall halfway between #1 & #2.

Traditional - 70%
When we plan out a vacation for the year we always talk about trips to a big city like NY or Chicago, a National Park, or a trip to Europe, but we always decide to wait on those until next year, and go to Disney again this year.

Theme Park Enthusiast - 20%
When we do go somewhere away from Disney we always find the closest amusement park to where we are going.

Extreme Disney - 10%
Have to protect my turf!

I'd say I'm mostly traditional. I love Disney, and it's my favorite vacation spot. I don't have the experience of visiting Disney in what some would say "the glory days," so nothing is really ruined for me. I have noticed a decline in quality in some spots, but nothing to the extent of what some have said.

I guess I'm a Traditional, New Age Fan.

Hmm, I can but can't relate to all of these. I love Disney because its home. I've been through many rough years and just having this joyous place is something I need sometimes. Walt Disney is my Role Model. He has told me to keep dreaming and to never let go of them. Walt told everyone to aspire to do great things and, that there will always be a better tomorrow. His parks enthuse his dream and prove that they can come true. Being there, you're experiencing his dream and discovering your own. They are the true beauty of imagination.

#3) I do get offensive when people say they don't like Disney, for the wrong reasons. But I can only say I met two. Other than that, where I come from, I've met many who respect the parks and have enjoyed their few stays, or others who have always wanted to go. But yes, Disney is my Happy Place and other people should respect that.

2) It's more than home and its more than my happy place. It's kinda my life and childhood.

1) I do LOVE amusement parks and I do enjoy heading towards my local WoF. But I'm not obsessive, it's just a big thing that I enjoy...

So maybe I'm a Dream Big Fan? Or Walt Fan? :D

Except for the A.C.E. thing, that's me. I love parks. If there is a park near a place I'm visiting, I'll do my best to get there!
Millennium Force, IASW, Spider-Man, Shamu...it's all good. :D I'm easy. :)

Zoos, too. Love zoos.

It's traditional by a mile. Everything there sums up how I feel about WDW. I love the place so much! I recognize that Disney is not for everyone so I'm not really hurt by if I understand and believe they have a good rational reasoning behind it. Take my parents, for instance. I hardly consider them Disney World fans but they're getting old and believe they've taken me and my siblings enough times already. Doing that, however, only motivated me to take even more Disney trips.

Id say im definitely 3. Yep. Im constantly haunted by the fact that there are things in the world other than disney and it makes me RAGE. Ive been known to make people cry if they talk about anything other than disney.

The first step to fixing your problem is admitting you have a problem.

I'm a theme park enthusiast. Being an Orlando native who grew up with the parks, I enjoy themed entertainment, but hold no special allegiance to these corporations who want to take my money. I'll patronize whoever does it best.

Feel like I fit between #2 and #3. Wish I could go more often and for a longer time but I feel lucky with my once a year 6 day trip. My sister who would fit #5 Casual Fan usually goes twice a year, first a 6 day trip with me and than a 2 week trip with her family, years that they plan to go on a trip to Maine or Europe they cut the second trip down to a week, plus they are DVC members. Don't know drives me more crazy that she can do this every year or that I'm jealous of my little sister.
