Just returned, and thank you for all of your suggestions!

We were visiting my daughter and SIL, so got to do a lot of very "NY" stuff, along with some touristy stuff. Made trips to Queens, Brooklyn (including DUMBO) a short ferry ride, walked over the Williamsburg Bridge at sunset, had Sunday brunch in The Village (stopped by Stonewall Park @ Christopher St) went up to The Cloisters, saw a musical, went to a tiki bar, ran into Chloe' Sevigny in a shop in SoHo, went to PS1 and Rockaway brewery, had Bar-B-Que in Brooklyn (NO slaw- sacrilege!) and just basically did a lot of walking, eating, and drinking.

Battery Park City is definitely worth some time of the weather is pleasant. Lovely landscaped walking/biking pathways with plenty of benches.

The Irish Famine Memorial is down there (Vesey Street) and the NYPD Line of Duty Memorial (where, unfortunately, you can find my brother’s name on the wall). The One World Trade Center Observatory is very cool. I haven’t been brave enough yet to visit the 9/11 Museum at the opposite end of the building (i.e., the basement)

Plenty of good stuff in lower Manhattan, it’s not just Wall Street anymore!

Did all of this - also was able to see the new subway stop which only opened last month. Walked the whole Battery Park and took an architectural tour at the Seaport Museum. Saw all of the memorials you mentioned. :(

Here are some links were you can find discount codes for a lot of Broadway shows:

My favorite show on Broadway right now is ONCE ON THIS ISLAND. I have seen it at least four times. It won Best Revival at the Tony Awards this past June and the production is absolutely amazing. Here are some scenes from it:

Buddy, it was wonderful! We got there a little early, so had a beer at an Irish bar across the street. WAY cheaper than the lobby bar. ;)

You saw Once on This Island???? Hurray! I'm so happy. That is probably my favorite show of all time. So glad you liked it!

The kids liked it, too. Having visitors forces them to take time from their usual 12 hour days to actually enjoy the city. Although my SIL was not able to have dinner with us on Thursday because his company sent him up to Boston at the last minute, and because a train derailed he was 3 hours late. He did send us this on Friday from an old "The Onion" story: https://local.theonion.com/pretty-cute-watching-boston-residents-play-daily-game-o-1819574643 ;)
