What to expect in June

So we have a trip booked for June but we have never been at this time of year. We know it's going to be hot but how to crowds compare to Spring break? How are the lines? We are going mid-late june

It's definitely going to be crowded, maybe a little lighter then Spring break in my opinion. We have gone in Mid June twice, and yes it is hot, but bearable. Utilized fastpass and you will be fine! Enjoy!

I've been the last two years mid-June and had very different experiences. June 2010 was crowded, but still quite manageable, and the weather was nice. In June 2011 the crowds seemed similar but it was significantly less comfortable. Not just more heat but also less rain. I doubt I'll go back in June after last year; it's much more likely I'd choose a more predictable time period from now on.

I am there every June, usually first or second week, and everything posted so far is dead on...The early rope drop starts are the way to go to beat crowds and rains are hit or miss..some years bad, some good, as Wolf359 said....all in all, June is a great time to go..I'll be here June 10-17th, which is in 48 days!

Too many much better times to go to WDW than during the summer time.
If I didn't have any choice and that's the only time I could go, I'd pass. It's a great place, but it's still an amusement park.

We didn't think the crowds were near as bad as spring break....but what the parks lacked in crowds, they made up for in heat! Any way you look at it though, better to be at WDW than at home! :ROFLOL:

going this june

I lived in south florida and in 2000 had season florida resident tickets. maybe went 10 times that year almost once a month. never had a bad trip. when i knew it was going to be crowded i planned better than when i thought it would be less crowded. but i always had a great trip. since then i have been enough. went last spring break with my schools baseball team...planned hard and it was great (crowded but great), this summer my family is going for 8 days starting june 17th, and i know i will be going next spring break with the baseball team again and then again in the summer with my extended family...

all that being said, planning has been the key in crowded times.

June is inconsistent,

For the past few years we have done Disney in the first to 2nd week of June. Weather was good, crowds good, wait lines good etc...
Last year we had to hold off until mid/late June and the wait lines were long! The heat was intense. Crowds were large. However with the exception of 2 of our 6 person party, we all had a good time. Just plan accordingly. Get your Fast Passes. Bring water bottles you can reuse. Fill up with ice before you leave hotels. Only do what you can manage, don't stress about what you can't do or you will ruin your trip. Have fun!!!! :)

I usually go the second week in June and it has always been fine -- weather has always been really hot, though, and if not hot temperature wise it has been really really sunny...so keep that in mind and wear sunscreen every day.

I have found that by June, World Showcase in Epcot is undoable -- there is no shade and it is incredibly hot. Younger folks won't have a problem -- older folks will....

We will definitely be taking it slow around World Showcase. Last time we went it was 92 degrees in April and the sun was in full power. We all left with burns and DD20 had to stop for water 4 times because she felt light headed.
We'll be going in every country for shade and A.C :)

I must admit the heat did get to me by the end of the week last year June...My last night at MK, I felt dizzy and nauseus(sp), dehydration was definitely kicking in. I wanted to stay for EMH but had to go back to the car and crank the AC while I slept in the back....I was so mad, but I really didnt want to pass out....

agreed. nothing compares to spring break. it's the perfect storm of craziness: most places in the country are dying for warm weather, kids are off from school for a long break. there's a reason why the parks hit capacity with regularity over spring break.

like others have said, june is fine. if there's a park you want to make a little more of a dent in, try to hit it mid-week, to avoid a little bit of local foot traffic in the parks. just make sure to implement some beat the heat strategies into your day, like heading back to the resort in the dead of the day to regroup and cool down.
