Seriously, I'm going through withdrawl. Our last real trip was May 2005...the trip in May of this year sucked royally (see signature below) and I am in severe withdrawl. I'm thinking about pulling out the childhood Disney home videos. Any other suggestions???? What do you do when you're lonesome for Disney World!!??

First of all, I come to these boards and check out a few Trip Reports. Then I plan a fantasy trip - sometimes a trip by myself, sometimes a trip with family or friends.

My last trip was May 2005 also. At least you got to go this year, even if it did suck. We planned to go this year, but then the wife got pregnant and had a baby in May, so that kind of nixed our vacation plans for the year.

But I find literature to look through, such as Biernbaum's WDW book, or brochures from travel agencies, or this messageboard which I discovered a few weeks ago as I, also, am in withdrawl. I also try to find things on TV, be it a documentary on WDW, or episodes of sitcoms, such as the Full House WDW episodes, or pop in the ol' vacation planning DVD or vacation club DVD...even if I don't plan to join.

hang out here!
hunt down obscure audio and make mix cd's, or use audacity to create my own remixes of things if i can find the source audio
watch ride videos
watch Pirates of the Carribean
watch The Haunted Mansion, and try to ignore Eddie Murphy, or watch it with the commentary turned on (man, one of these days i'd love to remix the video and cut out some of those cheesy lines, and the horrid song at the end, of course, i know NOTHING of editing video)
for a Halloween party i've created Haunted Mansion effects, that was fun to research things

What are the best channels for Disney info? The Travel Channel, I'm assuming. Anything else? You guys are great:)

Probably just Travel Channel, History and A&E. History has that modern marvels series, which has an episode on WDW...which airs tonight as a matter of fact. That same episode has aired on A&E before, as well, although without the "Modern Marvels" moniker. Evidentally, History Channel borrowed that documentary from someone else and aired it as a Modern Marvels episode. Other than that, I'm not sure.

And I was all set to watch a special on WDW on the travel channel last sunday, but it was raining and knocked out the satellite signal 20 minutes into the program. GRRRR

There happens to be a special on History Channel tonight (6-30-2006) about WDW. Mostly about the behind the scenes stuff, but still.

Travel Channel's good for Disney. But the Food Channel is also good. They do specials on food around the park, and Disney weddings.

Yea, when I'm homesick for Disney, I go searching online for park vids, hang around here, and I look at pics of my past trips, then I pray that the Travel Channel has some good specials about Disney on.

When I'm missing Disney, I do the same thing everyone else said. I either:
-watch the vacation planning DVD
-watch the Travel Channel (Samantha Brown has some awesome episodes of
Great Hotels at Animal Kingdom Lodge, Wilderness Lodge, and Yacht and
Beach Club)
-look through my old scrapbooks. I just got into scrapbooking and made
some VERY Disney scrapbooks. They help take me back.
-look at "actual" Disney World stuff on eBay
-buy travel guides at the bookstore
-read about Hidden Mickeys

I also have a huge jar in my room that I have decorated as my Disney Fund. I put lots of stickers and stuff all over it (and yes, I'm 23) and I always put my loose change in there. Also, I sell a lot of stuff on eBay and put that money into my Disney Fund. Seeing the money pile up in my jar gets me really excited about planning my next trip and going.

Live365 disney stations do it for me, not for the movie music but the park music. That ususally makes me more homesick though

The show is on the History Channel tonight at 8 PM Eastern time, so 7PM for the Central time zone, I am guessing.

All I know is I set my DVR to record it. I'll watch it tomorrow afternoon. :)

After reading this forum for more than 1 year I decided to post :)

I usually listen to disney tunes and watch disney movies. I also come here to see what's new and to pretend that I'd be traveling in the next days to the World
