What to do on non-park days?

We spend the day swimming, snacking, going to DtD, resort activities-campfire, arcade, lawn movies, dinner at our resort restaurant, napping, and just being lazy. But you could also do DQ, bowling, mini-golf, resort hopping, shopping. There's so much more to Disney World than parks!

We have scheduled on past trips a day or two off Disney site to do attractions around the Orlando area such as dinner theaters and shows. We also stop in for a mini golf round or two. Shop the DTD area or visit other resorts. When we have shorter stays there are no non park days.

We didn't use to do "non-park" days, but have learned the benefit of it. We have spent the day enjoying the activities offered at AKL, swimming at the pool at WL & Poly and going to the different resorts to enjoy their Christmas decorations in November. It can be a nice break from the crowds.

As many have said here, choices of alternatives to parks are nearly innumerable. Our favs include DTD and waterparks. Since you are at AKL, you could bus to MK and walk to CR or ride monorail from MK to whatever monorail resort you would like to visit (since monorail station is outside MK entry). Agree EWP is awesome. Chance to see fireworks from outside the park. Same options seem to exist for Epcot, bus there but no need to enter. Monorail station also outside Epcot entry. Could ride monorail to TTC and then as aforementioned.

We also do not do "non-park" days usually. That being said, we are almost always at rope drop of a park with EMH in the morning and most days we are out of that park by noon and back to our resort for pool/relax/nap time or DTD. And some days will be the opposite, sleep in and relax for the morning or maybe a water park visit then go to a theme park (armed with FP+) in the evening. We do lots of half days. :)

Swim, visit Downtown Disney, rent surrey bikes if we're at a resort that has them, mini-golf, afternoon tea, my husband usually goes golfing, movies under the stars, roast marshmallows at the campfire, walk the Wilderness Lodge trail....I love the non-park days as much as the park days! :)
