My style is to get to the park at opening. Go straight to the safari and RIDE it. This is around/right after the animals are fed and when they will be most active. I actually usually ride it twice in a row because of this. No ride is ever the same. If you get FPs for it for a later morning/mid day time, chances are you will get a more boring safari because it gets hot and the animals hide in the shade.
Then! I will go get a FP for Everest. I know most are saying go get it first, but seriously, the FPs only go so fast. It's not that big a deal. That latest you will get a FP for is probably in the 11-12 range. Also, if the FP line gets too long (not kidding when I was there in Feb there was a FP holder surge and the wait for it got to be 30-40 min and stand by was 80) go in the single rider line. You'll be on in 10 minutes and it isn't like you are paying attention to your party on the ride.
Between the safari and going on Everest, catch a show. I would recommend Flights of Wonder as a good one. It's short and will allow you to be at Everest when you need to be. Then go to Dinosaur after. And you'll have covered the good rides in the park. Tough to Be a Bug is a never a wait issue.
