What to do first at AK

Going to AK Monday, June 23. It's been a while since I've been to Disney in the peak summer season. I plan on being at the park for its 8:00 opening. What should I do first? I know safari is a good option, but should I go to safari first and grab fast passes then go to EE. Or go to safari first and do standby then head to Asia.

Thoughts, anyone? :)

I ride the safari first, then get FPs for Everest on my way to ride Dinosaur. May not be the BEST or fastest way, though. Just what I do. Then I have breakfast at RFC and continue with my day. :)

I don't mind walking all over the place, though!

If you really want the best way, check the UG or touringplans.com

I would get fastpasses and/or ride Everest immediately. Safari tends to run short on the standby towards the time when it closes, which is normally 5 pm. Plus you'll see a lot of animals because they know it's about time to get fed and head in. You can also grab fastpasses for later in the day for safari.

My style is to get to the park at opening. Go straight to the safari and RIDE it. This is around/right after the animals are fed and when they will be most active. I actually usually ride it twice in a row because of this. No ride is ever the same. If you get FPs for it for a later morning/mid day time, chances are you will get a more boring safari because it gets hot and the animals hide in the shade.

Then! I will go get a FP for Everest. I know most are saying go get it first, but seriously, the FPs only go so fast. It's not that big a deal. That latest you will get a FP for is probably in the 11-12 range. Also, if the FP line gets too long (not kidding when I was there in Feb there was a FP holder surge and the wait for it got to be 30-40 min and stand by was 80) go in the single rider line. You'll be on in 10 minutes and it isn't like you are paying attention to your party on the ride.

Between the safari and going on Everest, catch a show. I would recommend Flights of Wonder as a good one. It's short and will allow you to be at Everest when you need to be. Then go to Dinosaur after. And you'll have covered the good rides in the park. Tough to Be a Bug is a never a wait issue.

We always grab fast passes for the Safari and then depending on the return time, do something else. Usually we'll have time to get over and watch FOLK before we have to return to the Safari. Then we head down towards EE and get our FP's and head to Dinoland until it is time to use them. I have found that AK empties out after the parade and more specifically after the afternoon rains, so EE is walk on or close to it. We usually visit in June so I would expect this year to be similar to past years.
