What to do about imminent SSE spoilers (pics/ video/ sound)?

Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do when SSE pics/video/audio start coming in soon and I won't get to ride it for a few months?

I mean I sorta want to know the basics, but still want to be surprised.

I blockaded video of Canada when it reopened; I'm sorta glad I did because it was a surprise when I finally saw it.

Ah...I'm having the same dilemma!I thinks I'm gonna just read the reviews and save the visuals/audio surprises for whenever I get to actually ride...It's better experienced that way.

I'm doing the same with the HM update.

I disagree. I did all that with Mission:Space and then when I rode it I regretted reading all that stuff and watching all those videos.

Isn't just your decent backwards the whole new half?..I thought the first half is pretty much the same just reworking on lighting, effects, scents and AA's besides the Judy Dench narration.

The first part is said to have a few noticeable changes. The storyline and presentation is changed. Think of it like different versions of A Christmas Carol - like the muppets versus the classic versus scrooged. All the same idea, but told different. That's how i see the ascent being changed. You'll still see Tiny Tim, Marley, and 3 ghosts, but how its presented will be different.

All that said, i'm very nervous about seeing it in "soft opening" mode. I hated MILF in soft openings and still cant bring myself to go back, and my all-time worst experience was Imagination's soft opening for the latest version. Absolutely nothing worked, and it really soured me on the ride.

Well...for one, stay out of the WDW Park News and Rumors thread. Cause once it opens, it's news.

if you want to avoid spoilers... avoid the forums, and disney podcasts.

if you dont, you might end up reading or hearing something you didnt want to know yet.

the spoilers are already rolling in and its not even done yet.

I was thinking the same thing. My trip is in January, not really sure the dates, but I know its Jan. so its not so far off. So for this, Im going to try my best to wait. But I am so notorious for doing this. I watched and read stuff on EE, M:S, the new IASW, and ToT before I rode it, and for some I cant really say it messed it up for me but I remember for EE it did make me regret alittle. But for SSE, Im going to try to hold out for it, but I more than likely wont even if my trip is coming up fast. Im usually not that affected by it, because its one thing to see the video, but to actually experience it is def. different/more enhanced, so Ill see.

I wish I had the will power to avoid spoilers but I never can. The temptation is just too great. Every time I watch a spoiler it gives me a slight feeling of empty satisfaction.... but once I finally experience the ride in person, the experience is definitely flawed.

The one ride I was ever able to resist watching the video for was Soarin', as I knew that a video wouldn't do it any justice.

Needless to say, bring the SSE spoilers on!

Carpe diem-I say! Life is unpredictible....you never know if you are going to make it to see it or not. I say enjoy all the spoilers. It's never the same in person.

For example, I did a lot of research on our last vacation to Punta Cana (we took a break from Disney this Thanksgiving)...videos, pictures, trip reports, etc but then when I got there the experience was very different than what I researched. Sure I remembered some of the videos, etc but it didn't ruin any of the surprises for me.

Live for today...you never know about tomorrow.

What I did for the HM refurb (b/c I got to see it 2 days after it opened) was I still read all the new stuff, but I couldn't really get a visual on it 100%. So I knew some of the stuff to look for, but I didn't know what it looked like beforehand. I watched no videos of it, even though I was dying to. I did the same thing with Everest (although I did cave and watch the video a couple of days before my trip...I didn't want to go into that one blind.)

You get some tidbits from the spoilers, but in my opinion, it didn't really ruin anything. What would have ruined it was watching the videos. So stay away from those.

With today's fire hose of information coming from TV and the internet I would suggest going into a cave in the the mountains and spend you time from now until your next trip with your eyes closed and your fingers in your ears. I have also found singing "Mary had a little lamb" at the top of your lungs will help to stifle out the din of news as well.

im usually more disappointed when i dont watch some sort of "preview". the reason i say preview is that you never see everything on video/pics nor get the true 4D experience. i always seem to see somehting after the fact on video that someone has spotlighted that i didnt see or notice in person and wis that i would have been able to go again.

i say look at the pics.... maybe the vid. it didnt ruin E:E for me (that being an example) but, to each his own

Yea same deal for me. I read all I could about the Haunted Mansion refurbishment before I went down to make sure I didnt miss anything. As I went through I knew what to pay attention to and what was new. It would have been easy to miss some of the smaller details if I hadnt read about them.
