It was removed to give me time to determine if it was genuine, or if there was some crazy reverse billing that would incur the caller expense. Believe it or not, we do look out for the visitors to the site, and dont want to see anyone have problems.

Sorry, we can't vouch for it. The information was reposted too soon for us to look into it. Call the numbers at your own risk.

I can vouch that both numbers are legit.

no problems.

1) it's a long distance, so the caller knows that long distance charges may apply.

2) if there were any other charges it would have to be announced when you called. The same as if someone calls a 900 # they tell you there is additional charges.

So, what is this number exactly? What is it for?

be careful, phone charges are not that straight forward

Just because a number is not 900 or 976 does not mean that it is not a rip off number. The most common case is a number within the North American Dialing Plan (i.e. 1+arecode+7 digits) but not within the United States (for example any number of island nations). Any of those number, although they look like a "regular long distance call" are actually considered international calls (even though you DON'T dial 011 to call them) and their rates can be shockingly high and they can even be rated differently for individual numbers! As a result you can call any of them and get charges ranging up to 199.00 for a 1 minute call. These numbers are used "semi-legitimately" for on line gaming to get money into a gambler's account without using a credit card and fraudulently by sending you an email that says something like "Please call me back, I need to talk to you right away" and then giving you one of those phone numbers, when you call you get a message that says something like "sorry I'm not in right now, please try back in an hour or so" and so you try a few times, come the end of the month you have a bunch of huge charges.

My compliments and thanks to the mods for checking this sort of thing out.

Not always true. There were scams a little while back where you would get a letter or email saying you needed to call this number (won a prize, jury duty, bank account problem, etc). Problem was the area code was from some small island out in the carribean where their phone laws are different and they would charge you like $20 a minute - 10 minutes on hold would really add up. Then there was nothing that the phone company would do for you because you really did call that phone number. I don't remember what the area codes were but unless you looked them up before calling you wouldn't know anything was wrong until you got your phone bill.

I would not call any number unless you know exactly what you are being charged..

Thanks Steve for looking out and King of hearts..No offense but we do not KNOW you..so just because you say it is legit does not mean it is...
