The Byrds - Dr. Byrd & Mr Hyde (pretty neat followup to Sweetheart of the Rodeo)
Fleetwood Mac - Bare Trees (the Bob Welch years are very unfairly overlooked).
The Mahavishnu Orchestra - The Inner Mounting Flame (perhaps the best group of musicians in a self contained band ever assembled, or at least the best that didn't involve Miles Davis).

Beach Boys - Pet Sounds - mandatory listening, absolutely incredible. Also, one of the great bass albums (courtesy of Carol Kaye). In Paul McCartney's own words, one hasn't had a musical education without listening to Pet Sounds.
Genesis - Trespass - really, really good.
Weather Report - Tale Spinnin' - can't go wrong with Weather Report during their peak years...
