What show is going into the ABC theater?

Back on topic, I'd love to see a return of SuperStar Television.

Having appeared as the cue card holder, the newsman, the couple next door, Thurston J. Howell III (I think that's all) and having thoroughly enjoyed my old college roommate so desperate to get on the show he volunteered for the pie in the face in the Three Stooges segement, it's a blast!

"I'm still wishing for an updated Superstar Television, with Grey's, Desperate, Lost, etc. Guest interaction is all the rage now, it seems like a perfect time to bring it back."

This is what I am hoping for as well!!!!

It's not going to be High School Musical. CMs were informed that it would be a brand new show opening next year and not HSM-related.

Then there is hope for the Superstar Television to return!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah!!!! If they used the building for something related to the ABC or Disney Channel shows, then technically they could keep the studios name. Maybe this area will come a mini studios land.

Always thought it was Disney Son/Disney Daughter etc.

Or Dear Son & Dear Daughter. It's really all in how you read it.

As for HSM, I have never seen it. I agree with whoever said that it should never be compared with Grease. I think that there are very few musicals that do measure up to Grease. I have yet to see Hairspray, but I doubt it would even compare to that. WITH THAT SAID, I can certainly see the appeal of the show to anyone from about 4-18 and maybe even older. If it has catchy songs and cool dance moves it is going to garner a huge audience. I think Disney is smart for banking on it in any way they can, after all, they are a corporation that needs money to stay running. I think the Pep Rally needs to be more concealed. I am one of many who do not want to have to walk by it and hear it. It would be smart to do something with whatever is popular in The Disney Channel because that is what kids like and if everything is mature then kids will be miserable there. I think everyone gets that in the end.

Oh, as for longevity of this little franchise: They are in contract negotiations for the third movie and they want to release it in theaters. $$$

it does not compare with Hairspray...I said with changes it could. It has the same fun, rebellious tone as Hairspray, it would just need new music, some changes to existing songs (better lyrics at points...) and more impressive set changes (plus some lighting design, of course), and it could do very well on Broadway. All of these things are the same modifications that Disney made to the other movies that became Broadway shows in order to make them acceptable to the musical theatre crowd.

Please stop saying TEENS watch HSM!!!:fork:

I don't know antone in my age range who likes it at all except for a small group of girls! Stop shoving that crud down my throat!!! I can't stand it! I swear.....
I die inside a little bit when I hear that people think that teens watch Disney Channel. It's only for up to about 12 year olds, who are not teens!

Also STOP COMPARING IT TO GREASE!!!! IT IS POOPY!
Grease is a classic laden with innuendo. You know what is about some girls and some fruity guys singing about wanting to sing or some other crap like that. I couldn't even stand to watch it with my 6 year old sister.

All in all, Just stop saying teens like it, I'm 16 I would know.
Thank You.

I am impressed that you seem to know every teenager. You get around.

Disney's numbers don't lie.

I know for a fact it will not be HSM like the guy above me said. Not to mention during the cast updates they even said it wouldn't be HSM.

The only poopy they play nowadays is on MTV

Anyhoo, I am a fan of pretty much every program on the Disney channel (including Hannah Montana, Cory in the House, Suite Life, Raven) and I am 22 years old. Oooh shame on me for liking the crud poopy  As far as I can tell, Grease's storyline is also crud...it's the music that makes the movie for me.

I know plenty of teens that like HSM, because I taught 120 8th graders and the majority of them were obsessed with the movie, and I can't blame them. We need more television like that for our kids...but I digress.

I hope whatever goes in the ABC theater is good :D

When this whole thing came up about a new show, I'm pretty sure it was mentioned that they were putting in something more permanent...which HSM would not be. Yes, it's hugely popular now...but the target audience age-range is fickle. I can't say for sure if HSM will be as popular a couple years from now...maybe it will be...but my guess is that it won't. I'm hoping Disney learned their lesson with the Doug Live show (although, HSM is probably more popular than Disney's version of Doug).

My hope is for a new version of SSTV....I only got to see that show once, and I LOVED it. I haven't heard of anyone who saw it who didn't love it. It was just one of those shows that was the same setup...but different EVERY time because of the audience interaction. I think it would be absolutely great to have a new version of this.
Or a Lost attraction would be great :D

Well I'm not saying I know every teenager. I just meant it seems as if they believe every teen goes flipping nuts over the darn thing. It seems to alienate a large group of people, but yet the numbers don't lie. And yes MTV is crap. Music TV? Now it is crap reality shows all sexed up, come on!

Also as a point I didn't mean that everything on Disney Channel was bad per say, it just seems Disney thinks it is actual teenagers who watch it instead of some middle schoolers and elementary school students, you probably get what I mean. The teen audience is kinda left out for the most part. Well except for Pirates and N B X-Mas, which unfortunately people now think is only for goths.

It seems like Disney can hit every group except for teens exactly. Give them a choice between Disney and Universal and they wholeheartedly chose Universal. I think that Disney just needs to create some new properties perhaps and a couple, just a couple more extreme coasters that are still themed extremely well ala E E and they would have teens covered. Just don't push HSM on us most of us as far as I know, don't care for it.

As for a new show. Maybe an interactive show on how television is made. You know some people in the audience are chosen to be actors. You have a director, person with the schedule for production and so forth. It could be neat.

Disneyifed "GREASE" not even close...
Disneyifed "Hairspray" I see no relation to it

But it is a Disneyifed verison of "FAME" both the movie and the television show version {it was set also in a school with singing and dancing in the hallways and classroom}.

Am I the only one that realizes that GREASE SUCKS??? Really. I can't be the only one. I honestly can't see the difference besides that HSM actually caters to the audience it is trying to entertain. Grease throws in all the jokes like it was Family Guy, but for some reason it gets a free pass because it was on Broadway. It isn't funny. It isn't entertaining. It's "risky" for 13 year old girls -- and women that want to feel like "risky" 13 year old girls. What a load of garbage. Hairspray looks awesome though. I'll be going this weekend.
