DHS What should they do with Animation Courtyard?

Yeah, the short-term plan is complete enough for circulation.

I said upthread that none of the long-term stuff I'd heard was more than "collection of disparate IP in the same area." Not super-compelling, and would probably be tougher to market than a single-theme land. So maybe they're waiting for better ideas.

Maybe a controversial take, but….I’m sick of the single IP lands. I think a really strong area of the park designed to house excellent shows and attractions not beholden to one IP would benefit the park more and give larger creative freedom to imagineers.
Of course there should be some element of thematic cohesion, but the Studios doesn’t really need something rock-solid themed.

Which is odd, considering the best one has been sitting right in front of them the whole time! They don't return my emails anymore.

While I generally agree, I would prefer they continue to use HS as the primary outlet for it if they must single-IP.

Then we better hopes Tropical Americas is a massive success.

I would have preferred the idea of a general Pixar area for all Pixar IP's but what do I know.

Pixar Studios, LucasFilms, Disney Animation…this stuff was written for lands in a park called Hollywood Studios. Just no forward vision for it.

“Toontown Studios” seems like a no-brainer and keeps the animation vibe.

Talk about a thread bump. Unfortunately nothing concrete can be done to animation courtyard which is why Hollywood studios is going the route of Disneyland Resort in building out of the parking lot. Unfortunately as a quick google maps view will show Animation Courtyard is invaluable office space used by a great deal of Florida Based Disney Corporate. Not least the entirety of the social media and marketing teams. No they can’t move to Team Disney there’s no space there either so as it stands, the old animation building is just a fancy looking office space.

There have been plans drawn up, rumors of tax incentives that angered politicians and never brought back animation to Florida, tearing down the whole thing for Galaxies edge etc. but no it remains an empty shell of its former Glory. I would have thought that with the popularity of Lilo and Stitch there could have been a small display showcasing the fact that the original animated film was animated out of that animation studio building.

You have the realize as long as Iger and Co. control creativity and funding Imagineering is very limited to what it can do. Right now Robotics and AI are all the craze and that’s where funding is going. The fact that our dear leader downplayed Epic Universe this summer has shown with profits this summer diminishing at all levels. We should have had things ready to open but that’s for another thread.

Animation courtyard is the epitome of everything going on at Disney right now, a lost identity that needs a Roy Disney type person right now to clean house. Josh is just another puppet with no vision.

Aw, we all know it is gonna be the usual "too late" and "too disparate" IP land it always was. DL was built and opened in one year, this will be like the song that never ends, it just goes on and on, my friends.
