What should they do with Animation Courtyard?

If anyone could name a better IP land for that area than Nightmare Before Christmas, I’d love to hear it.

The black and white are would be an absolutely perfect fit to round out DHS.

Though I know it will never happen.

And after just coming back from Shanghai- zootopia would be a great land but Hot pursuit a throwing distance away from MMRR would be a hilariously awful decision.

Let's hope they eventually change that perception!

It's better now than it was when I was there early 2018 and they were still building Toy Story Land and Galaxy's Edge and all that was open was ToT, RnRC, Midway Mania, GMR, Lights Motors Action!, Muppets and Star Tours. I rope dropped, did everything, took a bunch of pictures with characters because they had them all over since so much of the park was closed and left by 1pm because there was just nothing else to do. It was barely a half day park. There may have been something else but it was nearly as bad as when they first opened.

Both GMR and LMA were already closed in 2018 so you did even less than you’re remembering 👀

it was down to 5 rides before they started adding TSL andSWGE. THat is the main reason I dont wt them ti add a 5th gate..we can be assured it will be an underbuilt park with 5 or less attractions...then maybe in 20 years they will add a spinner or a new meet and greet. The existing 4 parks already suffer from a lack of attractions and capacity...

Whatever they decide to do with Animation Courtyard, here are some things they NEED to think through:

-overall park layout and theme. It’s still kinda a mess. Are we making areas based on movies or what? I think they should divide the areas by movie genres (action, animation, thriller, etc) or by movie studios (Pixar, Walt Disney, Lucasfilm, etc)

- DHS is very dry. Give us a water ride or maybe even just a small splash pad!

- there’s like not much for small kids to do. Why was the Honey I shrunk the kids play area not replaced with another play area? Let’s see some attractions for all heights in this area please !!

Its even worse than that:

TOT, RNRC, and ST did not close during the SWGE or TSL construction.

Toy Story land didn't open until June 30th, 2018.

GMR closed on August 13th,2017

I am struggling to find the exact dates, but TSMM went down for a few days or a week right before TSL opened...

So at 1 point in 2018 the whole park had 3 rides.

They need to add rides in animation courtyard.

My wish is...
Add some kind of ride - Monsters Inc Door coaster or some other Pixar property would work. Heck take the Inside Out from Epcot plans and add it hear as well.

I also would LOVE a new updated Indy show, to include scenes from alter movies. I think this is a miss.

Last and I know this will be hated.....

Lets move Muppets to Animation area, or just outside of TSL, and then take that area to expand Star wars but time it to earlier movies not the later ones.

I will now duck and cover...... 🫣

Split the area from TSL to RNRR behind Sunset Blvd into two areas... Muppets Studios and Pixar Studios. A ground-up, all new Muppets Land could be great! Retheme RNRR as part of it... a new Muppets themed restaurant, a spinner, a new dark ride, and then maybe a gateway to an expanded Pixar Studios area with TSL as part of it... Another new restaurant and a couple attractions....

I still think they should do a Muppets dark ride. Then again, Iger's Imagineering would probably find a way to screw it up.
I think they should make Star Tours into a Muppets Ride. Maybe you “travel by map” or something? lol. But Millennium Falcon Smugglers Run is so similar but more updated. It just does NOT make sense in my mind why they kept Star Tours, let alone why they kept it outside of Galaxy’s Edge…

If there is going to be a Muppets ride I want the Muppets to be animated figures, not screens. Animated films can be represented in screens, because that is their native form. No matter how good the recent figures, Tiana, Belle, or Elsa are not native to three dimensions in the real world. So they look stylized when you see them in their rides.

But a Muppet figure wouldn't need to be stylized. You could see a real Kermit or Fozzy! Seeing them in real life would be the appeal of the ride!

Star Tours is the better ride, though...

Personally, I would love to see the courtyard connect to Rockin Rollercoaster, completing the outer loop of the park. The five-story Feature Animation building and its parking structure could stay (and maybe TDO should move there... Those guys need to spend more time in their parks). But everything else should get torn down and start from scratch.

Regarding the RSR rumors in Magic Kingdom, I'd much rather see this in DHS with the whole land. Would make a lot more sense. I edited a version of Cars Land that could fit in, of course with some modifications. It's not perfect, but close enough. Yes, I see it's blocking the entrance to Toy Story Land, but Mater's Junkyard Jamboree probably wouldn't be there because of Alien Swirling Saucers.

(I didn't expand out to the water chiller plant just in case that can't be removed, which I assume would be quite expensive. However the training offices, entertainment management, and the parking garage could probably be moved, so I layered Cars Land over those too.)View attachment 792350
The water chillers will not be removed. In the latest CFTOD (Reedy Creek) board meeting, RCES seeked approval to replace two of them due to age.

I’d love a straight muppet dark ride too, but as much as I hate to admit it, idk if muppets alone would draw without some kind of interactive “spin” to it or some fancy trackless stuff in it. I don’t think the muppets alone are a strong enough brand anymore for it just to be an OmniMover, but idk that could be just me.

For those who have never been to Disneyland, ToonTown is adorable... Lots of little things to see, great for younger kids, and Roger Rabbits CarToon Spin is a super fun, long dark ride... It would make sense to have the old Disney Animation courtyard fleshed out into a Toontown area...Fully set in the era of early Disney animation, Clone the Roger Rabbit ride but then add another couple attractions...a flat ride, a family coaster etc. then as you follow the path you end up in Toystoryland and Pixar Studios area....it would make sense within the layout of the park, and thematically fit the park aesthetic.
I like this. Animation Courtyard is more of a kid-focused area at the moment and I think that would be good to keep. Smaller rides and play areas would be nice for families of young kids, as there are still only a couple rides at HS without height requirements. My kids aren't even that little and they kept wanting to go back to Toontown when we were at DL lol
