Universal will come to a point (or already has) where promoting a Disney owned property makes no sense for them in the longterm. Even if it is Marvel Comics and not MCU.

Furthermore, Marvel superhero island is getting a bit long in the tooth ... and they have several properties that they could put in that space.

To add to this, if Universal ends up buying WB they will own DC. I know DC is currently licensed to 6 flags, but it’s more of a reason for them to eventually want to relinquish the Marvel area they have which isn’t bringing people to the park itself.

Fair points, but if Zootopia does have an exclusivity contract at Shanghai, then I genuinely have zero clue what else could go there that seems reasonable or likely, I like Brer Oswalds suggestion for Toontown, but I'd figure Disney probably wants to keep DHS as a containment zone for single IP based lands only instead of multiple IP based lands like Villains or Tropical Americas. I guess Disney could do something there for the unannounced 2026 WDAS movie if it gets super popular enough, but I guess we'll have to see huh?

Shanghai only has a 5 year exclusivity contract, which is why Tron was supposed to open in 2021. Zootopia Land clone could open by December 2028 at the earliest

I personally think Hollywood Studios is the only WDW park that should have lands themed around a singular IP. Personally I want either Metroville (incredibles), Sanfransokyo (Big Hero 6), Wakanda (black panther), Cornona (tangled), or even something 20th century related like apes or aliens. But what I think they'll actually build: Zootopia and/or an Avengers Campus

In addition id like to point out that Hollywood studios id argue has the most potental for any disney park in the US. they can easily fit not just one but two lands in Animation Courtyard depending on what they want to build and if they want to connect it to the new muppets area. In addition let's not forget Starwarsland was originally gonna be built atop echo lake and the indy stunt show. So that area of the park will also probably not last forever and eventually become a new land or lands if they want to build out into the parking lot. Personally I am quite optimistic of the future of this park. from getting a Monsters inc land with a new ride, show, food, and shopping, to a newer muppetsland, and while smaller it will likely better suit the muppets, especially if they bring back 3d in the area after the villains show wraps up following villains land completion. While the park will be completely different then what it once was it will be something new and special. And if Disney spends the money and allows imaginers to cook it could have lands that outdo Epic Universe. And I am personally optimistic.

Below are areas Disney can expand too. What is below is the "most" they can do and represents if Disney wants to do max expansion. I did not include the parking lot and them building outside it as that would just allow unfeasible room.

It makes sense to keep the area animation-themed, especially with The Little Mermaid show on the way. They could position it as an extension of Fantasyland, making it the perfect spot for attractions like Frozen Ever After, the Zootopia show at AK, and the Cars attractions going in MK.

I think there’s a plan for animation courtyard in the short term that includes the new mermaid show and a potential bluey retheme of the Disney junior show.

People will hate me for saying but a Planet of the Apes land using the aesthetic of the current line of films with a boat ride through an apes dominated world and hand made looking structures like the apes used in the films would be fantastic for DHS

They are expecting Zootopia 2 to be a big win for them. Three things seem likely to me ... Zootopia for DHS. Moana attraction for MK. Inside Out attraction for Epcot ... (and in a perfect world Lion King for DAK.)

With Moana, Inside Out & Lion King additions maybe being announced at the 2026/2028 expo.

** with Marvel as a possible dark horse for Animation Courtyard instead of Zootopia **

Hey, don't be..There is a ride based around the recent films overseas at Genting Skyworld. it's a more immersive Spiderman-esque ride.
