Well, there lies another conundrum; all of these themes happened about the same time in history (but not the same place). I will yield to the concensus and withdraw 'Pirate Island' but Tom Sawyer Island is a little weak and a waste of space (but again, JMO).

Again, no arguement (but the connection with American history is.......?)

The connection is to American History is during the period when short horror stories were written like Sleepy Hollow. They took place in the Hudson River Valley section of our country. Those stories are historical as being some of the first ghost stories ever written in our history. That is the connection.

I'm originally from Jersey so I'll agree (to an extent; though a little weak) and here I will just say, "Says the Raven, Never more".

If it had to be taken out, I would put in a Davy Crockett's River Rapids Adventure. It would be better than Kali. Set in a natural setting. You would have to get their by rafting across the rivers of America giving it a more intimate feel.

With the foot print of the island being so small, the only thing that really comes to mind would be to make create an abandoned mining town to tie into Big Thunder across the way.

Give it a real ghost town feel. Then it could also sort of tie into the Haunted Mansion that's close by as well.

Yes, the island is relatively small, but there is quite a bit of unused area behind Fort Langhorn. I don't know how suitable that land is, but if it is, you could definitley build a decent size attraction back there (think Peter Pan/Snow White size). Maybe even something along the lines of Kim Possible could be done whre you search the island? Then with a bit of work, expand the former Aunt Polly's to make it a full service eatery (preferably table, but counter is okay too) and enhance the fort and caverns with upgraded effects. Why not a cave that tells the story of Tom Sawyer? It could sorta be our version of the Sleeping Beauty Castle walk through at Disneyland.

Biggest reason why nothing big will happen is that it requires a serious infrastructure upgrade, including electrifying the entire island for nighttime lighting. this means it requires money, and we all know how TDO views money expenditures. :hammer: Capacity could also be a bit of a squeeze with the raft situation, but I think if both dock areas were utilized, that wouldn't be a big concern. In short, TSI is another part of WDW with so much potential that just sits there rotting away... :(

It could sorta be our version of the Sleeping Beauty Castle walk through at Disneyland.

Again look at this the island is huge.

Does anyone know if there's a backstage way into the island somehow? I'm just trying to imagine how you'd be able to construct something and getting equipment in and out, even for minor routine maintenance without having to drain the entire river...

A barge or they would most likley just drain ROA during construction.

There is something missing not to mention the spinning rock and sea saw that all kids loved. I still love the caves and always scare the crap out of my party. I think it could use more adventurous attractions like ropes and rocks to climb and some tom sawer or survival themed playground for the kids but god for bid someone would sue because their kid was being reckless and got hurt.
