What types of things do I need to bring when staying at a DVC? Do you need to bring your own coffee or is it provided? That type of thing. Is there a list posted any where that may have this type of info?

Here comes the big answer ----- It depends.

Sorry about that, but without details its hard to tell you what to bring.

First question - what kind of unit are you staying in? A studio, or something with a full kitchen?

There is a list of what each unit comes with, but I cant seem to locate it.

Off the top of my head, all come with a starter pack of coffee (i think one regular, one decaf, one tea, some powdered creamer, and some sweetner) a sponge and a towel for the sink in the kitchen (or kitchenette) a small bottle of dishwashing liquid, and you standard hotel soap, shampoo, conditioner.

Units with a full kitchen also have detergent for the washing machine - i think you are supposed to get enough for one load - but sometimes I get two boxes - its a mystery. You also get some detergent for the dishwasher, again I believe its enough for multiple loads.

Units with full kitchens have full sets of dishes & posts and pans.

Kitchnettes have paper plates / plastic untensils.

So, yes, you will need to bring coffee. You can buy some things in the store at the resort, but the selection is limited and its pricey.

As PP, it depends on what unit you are in. We stay in a studio and I pack coffee, filters, sugar, tea bags and a coulple of regular spoons plus large mugs. The utensils/plates in studios are plastic and the mugs are too small for us. If I get detergent samples I slip them into a ziploc if I have to do laundry. Anything up from a studio you get regular plates, silverware, pots, etc. plus laundry soap.

Thanks for the responses. I was curious if there were items that peoplet wish they would have brought once they are there. Kind of the tricks of the trade so to speak. Thanks again for the input

We are staying with DVC for the first time next week. I'm a coffee drinker and enjoy the coffee Disney supplies in the non-DVC hotels.

What kind of coffee makers are in the DVC rooms? What kind of coffee [bags] do you usually bring? Are there ample disposable coffee cups in the rooms, so I can make coffee on the way to the bus (boat) every morning?

Thanks...

The coffee maker in the rooms are either a 10 or 12 cup. They give you about 6 disposable cups - no lids - but you can get more if you ask (that is for a studio, 1 bedroom and above you get a small mug). I'll just bring DH's reg. coffee brand. The filters pack flat in a ziploc for the luggage and we stick a couple of spoons in the bag. I think it is Dixie brand that is now selling 12 oz. cups with the lids which would be perfect just to take on the way to the parks. They only give you one or sometimes two coffee packets in the room. They are restocked on Trash & Towel day and full housekeeping day. You also get the "start-up" packs with the sugar and non-dairy creamers but that is never enough. It takes up very little room in the suitcase. If you like the Disney brand coffee, you can buy it in the resorts and just bring your own filters.

I always bring a small container of clorox wipes too. Dirty counter tops gross me out and I use these to wipe down the counters after making a mess. I also use them to wipe down the toilets and sinks since you don't get cleaning service unless you are there for more than 7 days.

We always bring:
can of coffee
sugar packets
coffee filters
laundry detergent- I stock up during the year with Tide sample packets
dryer sheets in a baggie

Dish detergent is there and enough is supplied, if you have a 1 or 2 bedroom.

Technically, you don't have to bring much at all. Just go to Publix like 5 minutes away and buy food and stuff there.

Sorry to bump an old post, but I am planning to bring coffee filters, but do the machines in a studio at Saratoga take cone filters or basket filters. I want to make sure I bring the right kind.

Thanks,

When we stayed in SSR 2 yrs ago the coffee they provide was in those filters that have the coffee in it. Also if you bring your own they are basket. Unless they changed the makers in the rooms.

Also not sure if everyone has seen the new laundry product out by Purex. I think it is so easier to use on travel instead of taking a bottle of detergent, fab sheets & bleach. They are laundry sheets.

Check it out.

there is an area to print out a coupon.

In addition to coffee and coffee filters, I always bring salt and pepper - they are not provided. I also bring plenty of wine and champagne - also not provided ;-).
