What should happen to Winnie the Pooh?

What should happen to the ride??

  • Turn it into a SW:GE ride

  • Turn it into a new Critter Country ride

  • Demolish it and build a show building for a better Pooh ride

  • Demolish it and build something other than a ride

  • Demolish it and build a show building for a different themed ride

  • Leave it alone

  • Turn it into a CBJ revival

Isn't Tokyo's version like 20 years old? It's definitely a good ride, but I'd love to see a pass at a 2019 level Pooh dark ride.

I think so. I would to too but I don’t think we’d get better. The best we could probably hope for is a clone and that’s wishful thinking. Even though it’s 20 years old, it sounds like it was ahead of its time. Not to mention since Pooh in Tokyo was built we have examples of newer much inferior dark rides like Monsters inc and Mermaid. I think most people would be ecstatic with a Tokyo clone.

I honestly think they would turn Pooh into a SWL attraction before upgrading it.

If SWL opens up and the Pooh ridership is still low with all the new foot traffic then I think we may something happen in the future. When you consider project stardust and what they re doing for capacity it would be crazy not to do something with Pooh that averages 5 minute waits all year and takes up a decent amount of space.
Without going into too many specifics, Pooh's "ridership" is much better than you think it is. Wait time doesn't necessarily equate to the actual number of people experiencing the attraction.

Of course it’s not the only factor but I don’t care what kind of capacity it has, the attraction averages 5 minute waits and takes a decent footprint. They re eliminating planters across the park to gain 1.5 feet of walking room in pathways. It would be odd if they didn’t take a look at Pooh if this continues after SWL opens... especially considering it’s location.

A Country Bears show would guarantee low attendance. AA shows don't attract audiences anymore. It just needs to be a bigger and grander Pooh ride.

How about a cross between CBJ and America Sings? Instead of just the country bears, the show could include a selection of other forest type characters. Bambi, Pooh, Robin Hood, Fox and the Hound, Meeko, Frog Tiana and Naveen, triplet bear cubs from Brave, etc. Disney is on an IP bender, right? Make them A1000 type figures with lots of articulation points, make them mobile, have them interact, the works. I think Disneylanders would welcome a retro AA show if it was done well enough.

Bambi is the best option, honestly.
A Bambi-themed dark ride:

Scene One: Baby Bambi on ice
Scene Two: “Run, Bambi!” (Gunshot)
Scene Three: Adult Bambi falling in love
Scene Four: Forest fire
Scene Five: “Wake up, Pooh! Wake up!”
Scene Six: Pooh wakes up, hung over, amid 3 dozen empty honeypots while his Bambi DVD loops on his TV. Slurs, “What a wunnerful dream...”
Exit into Pooh gift shop/venison jerky stand

I'd be ok with CBJ returning, but realistically that won't happen. If it did happen, it almost certainly wouldn't be the original show, which is the one I would want back.

Even though Hunny Hunt is 20 years old, if they put it in as is it would still be a huge improvement over what's there now. I'm still not over the fact that the DL Pooh was built AFTER Tokyo's version and is easily the worst version of the ride worldwide.

Honestly the space is so small that I don't think modern Disney would be able to do anything with it except put in another shop.

with the new technology use of real sets and projections this would make for an awesome ride

I guess the fact that I watched this as an adult (like 2 years ago lol) for the first time really ruined it for me. It’s in my bottom 5 Disney animated movies.

It’s like Willow, one of my favorite movies from my childhood. A 30th anniversary blu Ray was recently released so I found myself reading some articles and there was one that went into an analysis of Willow fandom and it said ”if you first watched it between the ages 6-13 you re probably a fan for life.” That’s true for me and probably most people. It’s why most of us think the Disneyland of our youth was the best or why even folks who go to the parks as adults for the first time seem to accept the park for what it is as the base/ starting point and lament changes later. Not to say some of the complaints aren’t valid.

Anyway back to Willow, I hadn’t seen it in like 20 years. It obviously wasn’t as great as I renembered it but still a solid film. Those brownies are really annoying. Definitely doesn’t hold up like Roger Rabbit but not as bad as some other childhood rewatches.

I'm not one for bringing back old rides, but considering I never saw Country Bear Jamboree (and I missed out on it when I went to WDW and TDL), I think a revival of Country Bear Jamboree would be pretty cool.

I also second the Bambi dark ride, since I don't believe there's ever been anything Bambi in the Disney parks.

I think it works just fine for a DL dark ride...people get too hung up in the comparisons to the other versions and yes, we did get an inferior version. It's still a good fit for that area of the park...thrill(ish) ride and family ride across from each other. I say keep it and update it a bit.
