What should EPCOT's rehab priorities be?

First off some extreme attention needs to be payed to updating WoL. It's stuck in the 80's and badly needs new attractions. I remember wathcing that Goofy movie whe I was little. I Know retro is in but not that retro.

Also the lIving Seas needs some sort of ride through part again. If it incorporates Nemo cool if it doesn't no harm just put something in there so it's not just a big aquarium(I'm not trying to bash it b/__ I love the pavilion just not what they've done with it)

It was not long, but when you got off the hydrolators your boarded a sea cab - looked a bit like a small version of the Imagination vehicles.

If you look for some ugly, out of place boards they are covering the entrance and exit to the ride.

But only after they remove the tombstones littering the whole entrance.

One thing I would do differently in Spaceship Earth is make the head rest a little taller. Us tall people can't enjoy the same relaxing ride back down.:(

Something of that nature w/ that much water pressure would be a major safety concern. They would have closed off more than the omnimover!

I think we all agree on which pavillions need to be updated, but what would you do to Wonders of Life? Make a new simulator, maybe? I don't know. Completely rip down the building and make something else?

I like Cranium Command, but I haven't been inside WOL for a few years, so I'm not sure what shape it's actually in.

Any other ideas on what could be done?

You're completely right. Eisner and his management figured that out when they were first hired in 1984. That's why we have such attractions as Mission: Space and Test Track now. And that's why Imagineers were ordered to redesign the park under the code-name Project Genesis.

In Walt's original vision of EPCOT (which was supposed to be an actual living futuristic city with residents), he even said that EPCOT would constantly be changing so it wouldn't be out of date. Later Disney management decided not to build the city, but a theme park instead because the idea of always rebuilding the city to keep it up-to-date scared the financial bejeebees out of them. So these "smart" managers decided to build a theme park instead, without ever realizing that they would have to keep that up-to-date as well! Geeeezzzz!

So the challenge in rebuilding EPCOT is to create pavillions that would only need "software" changes in the future, rather than demolitioning it for something else.

I've got an idea. Instead of adding new stuff, lets get something in the areas that scream "THIS SPACE FOR SALE or LEASE"!

can you say..."Odyssey Restaurant"?
how about the old..."Pizza Pavilion"?

As we all know Epcot is in the process of reinvinting itself from a park that is built on science and technology to a park that is based on discovery. I for one think that the reinvintion of Epcot's theme is a very good idea because (1.) Walt wanted things to always be changing. (2.) The idea of a park of discovery is more interesting (at least 2 me) than science (3.) This will create new interest in Epcot.) What really needs to be done are as follows.

1. Th Living Seas- keep the theme of Sea Base Alpha but introduce a totally new ride that incorportaes water coaster, flume, and new age dark ride technology to highlight the importance of the sea and how it has shaped us. There could also be a Finding Nemo section that would be a place where kids could learn about the sea with the help of Finding Nemo characters. Also give us more exhibis to see and rehab the display areas to have a more modern look.

2. Wonders of Life- As far as the main building goes it would be knocked down. But a new ride would be built that would tak place at The International Health Institute the story is that the you are a scientest that has to go into a human body to look for a unknown part that could change everything (storyline similar to Body Wars). The actual ride would be a ride that combines Spiderman/ EMV/ In-Car Effects/Special Effects/ huge sets/ and Trackless Technlogy to create a amazing ride that would restore interest in that specific topic and be hand in hand with the discovery theme. There could also be another area where kids can look at interactive displays about the human body and maybe have a giant play area themed to the human body. A animotronic figure could serve as the main character for the kid's area explainging the general idea (ALA- Tom Morrow in Innoventions at DL)

3.Mission:Space- a awesome ride already! But one thing that should be done is minor tweaking to the pre-show video and other things to present the story as an ACTUAL trip to mars. Change the post show to resemble mars and give the hallway to the post show mars themeing also. This could clear up confusion with the snyposis of the ride and give a litttle more meaing to the ride.

4. Test Track- Minor tweaking with the cars movemant and possble give a little more to look at (maybe some assembly robots.) Also restore some ofthe effects that are not currently workign (truck scene sparks.) Update the pre-show to be a little less boring.

5. The Land- With Soarin coming this should help with breathing some life into the pavillion, but i think that it would be cool if they added a knew ride that uses roller coaster technology that uses launches andslow moving portions to send you through the different climates of the world. Also maybe put in one of the orginal concepts of glass bubbles that had different enviorments in it. This would really give EPCOT a roller coaster for those thrill seekers (me.) Keep the land boat ride but update it with better special effects. And present a show out in the atrium that hihlights to importance of the land with ariel dancing, special effcets, a huge LED rooftop screen (that not only cn be used as a backdrop for the show but as a backdrop for the atrium throughout the day when the show is not running.) The atrium could also be given a more earthy apperance with beautfil greenery growing everywhere and getting rid of those 80's color's instead for murals of the land. They could also have every ten minutes have a different climate with special effects like rain, smells, heat, snow, temp. to help convery the story. The circle of life theater should be replaced with more room for the new attractions.

6.Imagintion-
The whole pavillion be demolished for a new imagination pavillion. The exterior could be made up of a large glass pyrmaid (bigger than the two right now) this pyrmaid would havd tiny meallic and crystal traingles that spin. They would turn so that the light would always be hitting it. Also have the pyrmaid be embedded with fiber optics so that during dark days and nights the pavillion would be awash in color that is constantly changing shapes and patterns. The top of the pymarid would have a contraption that would come to life every five minutes. This thing would be catching people's dreams and it would be conveyed through the use of light, lasers, and smoke. The pavillion would be home to an orginal attraction that would take guests on a magical adventure with figment and dreamfinder to capture the imagintion. The ride would have holograms, smoke, lasers, fiber obtics, and over one hundred animotronics to convey the story. The ride will end with guests awakening their igmination before their eyes through the use of special effects. Guests will also be treated to a post show that is set in their imagintion with many games and hands on ehbits to further their knowledge. The ride would use EMV technology and would have have speeds that range from a standstill to over twenty five miles per hour. During the day Dreamfinder will present a show on the outside of the pavillion that involves him and figment setting off in a giant themed flying contraption to find peoples dreams and imagintion (it will really fly across Epcot then to backstage)

7. Space Ship Earth- This ride will be updated with much more immerseve scenes, more advanced audio, better timing, new scenes, annd a finally (top of ball scene) that will have fiber optic stars, fog, and a huge laser that would have three points (Knowledge, Imagintion, and Discovery) these would present a stuning lightshow in the fog. The ending should be made less annoying with more things to look at. The post show will have more kid-friendly stuff and a modern look.

8. Innoventions- Innoventions would be knocked down to create space for Time Racers. This would allow the aging Innoventions to be gone and we would be able to keep Space Ship Eath. Time Racers will not be a rollercoaster but a Test Track/ EMV style attractrion that is highly immerserve, animotronic filled, and speciak effects ladden. The ride would start in the spot where Innoventions west is, but would travle underground to a showbuilding outside the berm and the travel back to Innoventions East to unload, then would go under back to Innoventions West. The post show will also be locatd in Innoventions East and be a extremely updated form of Innoventions. Innoventions plaza would ave more fiber optic tiles instilled and the fountain would be replaced with a huge three points symbol with a globe in the middle that would continually change colors and ect. A fountain would surround the globe witch is on tiers. The carousel of progress will be relocated to the area at the end innoventions with updated AA's, new scenes, and a three story exterior that would have fiber optics that make it look like it is "going" through time. The COP would also be larger and the scenes more impressive sized.

9. World Showcase- add a more pavlions. Add a swiss mountain ride, new ride for mexico, larger scale backwords flume/new age dark ride for Norway, orginal Rhine River ride for Germany, Italy Canal ride for Italy. Add a section based on New York in the 1800's (TDS style) with a ocean liner that features a ride based on the sinking of this great ship, a broadway theatre with a show based on the hits of broaway (more elaborate than TDS show), and a ________ Tracy gangsta' style Men and Black style ride.

10. Add a parade that incorporates pyro, smoke, impressive floats, fiber optics in world showcase buildings, and Disney characters that celebrates the spririt inside of use that allows us to share our light. This parade would be followed with a Illumintions:Discovery wich would involve a huge globe with the three points (the three points would open up to reaveal a eteral torch of different colors that celbrates the facts that all of these come together as one.

Irony - 1a.The use of words to express something different from and often opposite to their literal meaning. b. An expression or utterance marked by a deliberate contrast between apparent and intended meaning.

Living Seas: Have the sea cabs return and run through the history of sea exploration via mockups of ships throughout the ages, from Viking ships to a modern nuclear sub. Experience a storm at sea, a hurricane, a shark cage, a deep sea dive. Eat in a restaurant themed like the Titanic. Not just look at fish.
World Showcase: Add Brasil. Which should have an interesting take on Carnivale. You could also have some sort of World Cup celebration at World Showcase, since there is already England, Italy, Germany, and Mexico.
The Land: Attach a giant foot. Hey, SE has a giant hand on it, why not?

They must have! It’s said that Americans do not know the meaning of the word irony :animwink: . A brilliant example is the Alanis Morissette song “Ironic”. Where the only irony was that nothing in it was ironic! :veryconfu

WDW Fan Since 1973
WoL needs immediate attention. I've always loved Cranium Command but the film itself appears old. The decor is also very 80's. Bring back the Anicomical Players. They were always a hoot. Goofy about health could be updated very easily. As for Body Wars, well, a new ride system is needed (or heck, with some BIG money a whole new attraction.)

Living Seas needs more exhibits, more area's like the Manatee area, and open up the Sea Cabs again. I'd actually like to see the whole "and it rained....." film along with a more detailed view of the bottom of the ocean, incorporated into a dark ride attraction that finishes with the current sea cab section. (Go from the queue into the short film room, to the hydrolators and onto a long ride concluding in the tank tunnels then onto Sea Base Alpha.)

I love UoE just as it is. Hey with the popularity of Dory in Nemo, just add in a reference so that the kids will know who Ellen is.

How about more of the fiber optic walkways added. The kids love those at night and they add great atmosphere.
